Jeez. You guys act like you've never seen a trombone charge pipe before. The idea is to tune the resonance of the intake tract to force more air into the motor, like a tuned pipe on a 2-stroke dirt bike.

A radar could potentially save you some money so I vote that.

Passport 9500ix. My friend has it and loves it. It has kept him from many tickets. Hoping it does for me as well. I don't want to get anything more than $500-$600.

Just bought all my fluids for my 30k service. Holy crap it is expensive. All genuine Subaru fluids for transmission, rear differential, engine, coolant, brakes and clutch. Plus pack of oil filters and washers for all the drain plugs.

Came back from the dealer to check out my steering fluid leak and it turns out the rack valve is leaking. New part is on order and service will be covered under warranty.

6,000 miles left under warranty.

I have the Valentine 1 and would recommend it to anyone. You can't beat the price either considering it's a little over $400.

Get the meth kit and just watch where you indulge in speed. The radar detector will not warn you from a laser and thats pretty much what ALL police are converting to. I had an 8500 when they were the best you could get and it saved my butt quite a few times but, that was 10yrs ago. Just last week I was going to buy a 9500 and was talked out of it by the dealer simply because it wont do me any good because 2 of the major counties around the ATL area already switched completely to laser. His mother is an officer.

Thanks for the tip! I have been talking to my friend about his detector. The laser has been brought up several times. That is for sure the only thing that I would be worried about if I had the detector. Down here it seems as though the lasers are usually used by cops who are standing with the laser gun versus the radars that are mounted in the car. Maybe we are not as advanced as you are in Georgia though. He has been able to detect cops up to two miles away.

I'll swap to a different oil on the new block. Rotella? It seems to be a preferred choice around here.

I think the block is going to be swap finally this June. I will be going out of town for work which will be perfect to leave the car with my mechanic. I will probably hold off on installing the rest of the meth tank until then lol.

Yes rotella for the Subaru. They love it.

I am alive haha and the chest is a long story. They put in this mesh stuff which I had an allergic reaction to so I had surgery again like 2 weeks later. Back on my feet but not doing much work on cars mostly paperwork and such. Still have to rebuild muscle, ect.

Well get it done so you can enjoy it this summer. Are you gonna keep the oil block as a backup or sell it. Sorry I didn't get back to you on the fluids. I could of saved you a bunch of money since lots of those are just Subaru labels of other oil. But please don't use their oil. Put pennzoil platinum (you can get a jug of it at Walmart) or rotella in it. Last I knew they used Mobil

Well I have been going fine with the Subaru oil so far except for when there was none in my engine lol. I'll use it one more time on this oil change. From then on I'll go Rotella T6 5W-30? I'm in Florida. When I get my new block in I will be using the 12 mm oil pump. Will Rotella T6 5W-30 be okay with that as well?

I found a gas station where every time I get gas from there my car is running beautifully. It is crazy how much the quality of 93 from one place differs from another place.

I am pretty excited about finally getting the swap done. Being away for two weeks will be plenty of time for my guy to take his time and get everything installed. It will be nice to not have to worry about ring land issues anymore. Of course never say never.

I could be wrong but I only think they offer 5w-40 in synthetic, however I believe their 5w-30 isnt synthetic. But like i said I could be wrong, I just haven't seen 5w30 Rotella synthetic available in my area.

I'm the same way about gas. I found the station by me that I got good tuning logs on and stick with that for every fill-up.

Crap, had all my fluids changed to discover that my front brake pads are pretty much done an that the rotors are not smooth to the touch. Stock STI rotors are $340 a piece!!!!!! Looking into getting something aftermarket. Suggestions? I'm thinking in the $300 for two realm. Maybe something slotted.
