Thanks. I think I'm going to ride out this next motor and stick to my original plan of swapping it later this year or so. Now that I'm starting back at 0 miles on the engine I should be good to go for a while. Probably wait until the actual warranty ends. This will give me time to do plan out any other ideas I come up with such as heads etc. I doubt it though.

Bertune says my block should be done by this weekend. Two cylinders will need to be honed as well to fit the Cosworth pistons with the proper clearance.

Why don't you have the dealership install your killer B setup so you know this engine will last?

Hmmm, not a bad idea. Not sure if they would go for it since it isn't OEM. I guess I can ask.

I am still wondering if the pick up was really an issue. They only said that the engine spun the bearing. Maybe I'll drop by on the dealership tomorrow to take a look.

I'm swapping my 12 mm oil pump for a 11 mm oil pump for my future build. Too many threads out there that have scared me away from the 12 mm.

That sounds like an oil issue to me, and we all know the stock pickup blows.

Let us know what they say about the pickup.

I have a friend that I piss off a lot because of some of my luck. I don't have the car in my hands yet so I don't want to get too happy just yet! I won't see the parts list until I go pick up the car. I really hope they went with replacing the full long block and all the other parts that deal with the oil system.

It will be really nuts of they give me a new turbo as well. I doubt it. Plus I hope my DOM 2.5XT-R is still fully functional.

Great well-rounded built you've got. You've also got one of the best dealership stories I've heard. Congrats on the new block!

^Thanks! That was my goal. Power might take a back seat after all of this for a bit. Time to beef up handling maybe.

I made the call today to see if they will put in my Killer B pick up and they said they can't since this is technically a warranty issue.

I also tried to see if I could keep the block they are pulling and they said they can't give it to me because it has to be sent back to Subaru.

For now it looks as though I'm getting a new short block and not a long block. Hopefully these guys know how to clean everything out properly. According to the service rep they do not know the cause of the failure other than the lack of oil in the pan.

You could ask if you could pay to replace the pickup with the killer B one or get an oil pressure gauge asap once you get the car back.

I don't trust the pickups on those cars at all. They are pos.

Yeah I think I'm going to have the pick up installed shortly after I get the car back. It seems like a messy thing to try to DIY. Might have someone do it for me.

The oil pressure gauge will be next but I need a nice mounting piece. Where do I put it??

Between the headliner and the roof is what I understood or maybe stuffed in the crack between the edge of the window and the window. Haven't taken the plunge and installed yet, cause I still need to install the sandwich adapter when I get my oil changed. You don't have the limited model do you? If you do, it looks like it needs some cutting down to work with sunroof control box, which I'll be doing sometime after I'm back in VA.

So get this. My dad's car he let me borrow is now taking a dump on me! Apparently he knew there was an issue but didn't let me know. I drove over 150 miles to Miami with my daughter last week not knowing about this. Now I'm on my way home and stuck at a shopping center.

The problem....bad piston. Million bucks says his mechanic told him about it but he figures the car is fine.

Nice dad.

So you're going to have two new engines basically? Or is the built motor on hold?

Yes, I have two motors. One is being built right now and the other is being installed by the dealership.

Yes, I am that nuts.
