Question Electric Turbo Subaru RS 2.5,Forester,Outback

I found this on ebay today. Looks a little sketchy to me????

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...847709521&rd=1

It says you can get up to 60 HP.
Does it look like it can do that aor is it just another scam like the "Tornado"?
Its hard to believe that for $40 you can get up to 60HP.

Ron

does it sound too good to be true?

or another question, why would you want to jam something in your intake that impedes normal airflow?

i think you've figured it out. i would say you're better off buying a tornado.

Those things are such BS IMHO. If you do the math you will see that you won't even get 1lb of boost from it. Don't use the info they try to fool you with though, do a search for radio controlled airplane engines. I spent about a week looking up all the info a few months ago and it all ended up being a waste of time.

These things come and go. Every couple years they resurface and many more people are tricked.

Way back when, I was very involved in the toyota supra scene. Just to prove that this thing was crap someone ordered it and did some measurements.

Even if this unit was able to produce 1psi at the rpm you needed (which it couldnt for a 3l, and for any other engine size if I remember correctly) the restriction in the line effectivly cut the intake size down to less than half! In order just to get equal amount of air flow the unit would have to accellerate the amount of air around it by over 2 times.

I will try to look at my old outlook archives to see if I can find it.

I think it was in the Legacy forum where I found a thread about these. They actually found a site online that will sell you this exact same axial flow fan and all for like $25. They are used to ventilate air from inside buidings. I'm reminded of a grill room at Burger King. Other uses are for ventilating fuel storage compartments on boats.

I did a little research on these and althogh the cfm flow numbers look really good. The only problem is when you try and develop pressure. The engine in these just isn't strong enough nor are the fan blades rigid enough to allow this system to develop any positive intake manifold pressure.

Could you imagine 60hp for $40. That would be absolute most cost effective mod on the planet.
