Post SCCA membership with WRX purchase?

I read in a recent Autoweek that Suburu is giving free memberships into the SCCA for one year when you purchase a WRX. I haven't seen or head anything about this elsewhere. Is this true? What does having a membership mean?

An application comes with the car & you mail it in. Being an SCCA member gets you discounted rates at autoxes, a year's subscription to their magazine, a decal, & other benefits.

are you serious? My WRX didn't come with any of this and I didn't worry about it because someone said they would just send it to me. You really got an application with your car?

Mr. Ixnay, did you look through all the paperwork that came in the folder that holds the owners manual. Possible it's in there. If not ask your dealer.

Note:

It's required to run in any NorCal SFR event.. Not that you get a discount, you can't run in a SFR NorCal SCCA event without a membership. It's different in other regions, some allow non members to run at a higher cost..

Depending on where you are. It's a really neat offering by Subaru though!

The cars are supposed to have it in the glovebox, but if you got yours early, it's possible that you didn't get it. Give SOA or your dealer a call... all it is is a form where you fill out your name, address, & VIN, so you actually may just be able to fax that info to SCCA directly.

Wow I didn't know that!! Another reason to get a wrx.

That's pretty cool that a car manufacture would put that much effort to cater to performance enthusiast or make an new owner into one.
