I think the wrx period is turning into the new srt-4. Used to be a car for 20-30 something's that love tech, and doing things right while not looking flashy.... Now everyone and their mother is doing cheap crappy flashy mods to their car that aren't well thought out.

lmfao, I spent the day today painting and installing my Magnaflow exhaust, i moved my car 10 feet with a open CNT 3 inch catted down pipe and I had cops at my house, which led to me making up some sorry that my exhaust tore open and I was replacing it but had to move the car, apparently my neighbors find it fine to play loud music at 3am in the morning but can't deal with a loud car in the middle of the day for 3 min, I don't understand how you can drive around with that much noise..

I love how everyone acts like this mod is the worst thing in the world. I'm not saying it's awesome or anything, but it isn't hurting anything. Post-turbo exhaust leaks do NOT affect performance. You could run open DP and be just fine.

But I do have to agree with the sentiment that the subie community has changed. When I had my 05 wrx, there weren't nearly as many kids running around with bright pink or green wheels on their hella flush subies. It was all about doing it clean and right.

Explain why would you want backpressure on a turbo?

Image over substance...

your a moron.

And yes, the piss poorly modded subies which were non existent 6 years ago are starting to run rampant. It all started with the uber wide wheels and the attitude that is it better to look fast than to be fast. It is cheaper to make your car appear to be quick than to actually make it quick.

And if I look back, this is the VERY DEFINITION of what a ricer is...the new hellaflush, washer mod, cut frame rails crowd seems to define it to the letter.

We have spiraled down to the level of half assed modded Civics..

Would love to hear this.

And an "exhaust leak mod" is hilarious. Reminds me of a friend 10 years ago who "modded" his exhaust on his integra by punching holes in the canister with a screwdriver.

Nah, not hardly. The crowd that WRX's used to draw is way different than now. They used to be a more unique, niche car with a tight knit following. Back then, everyone who had a rex gave a wave in passing and there was a general respect. Now, the whole rally thing has become way more main stream because of Ken Block, Pastrana, etc. and WRX's in turn have gained a lot of popularity.

Combine that with the fact that WRX's have been out long enough now that you can find older ones under that 10k price point and you have the perfect recipe for riced out subies haha.

yeah but this guy has a 2011 which is 25-30k. but in fairness, I unbolted my muffler and drove around the block and it sounded pretty decent...everyone is wasting $1000-$1500 on fancy shiny noise maker exhausts that don't actually give you any power unless you have a serious amount of work done...maybe not using washers, but just a cheap muffler delete pipe wouldn't be the worst mod to do considering how useless catbacks are on stockish cars. Putting washers in there is just like when civic guys used to drill holes in their mufflers though..lol

Nobody is saying he cannot do what he wants. Last I checked being dumb is not a crime.

But you forgot the most important one...

3rd. I can comment all I want to on a public forum and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Thus the term public. Get use to it. People are not always going to tell you what you want to hear. We are not your mommy and daddy and think the world of you or anybody else. We do not have to agree on everything, and give pats on the back to every dumb idea seen on the internet...

Yes it is his car and he can do whatever he wants with it but doing cheap mods on an expensive car he should have know the guys out there doing things the right way would not appreciate it. Subaru tuning is meant to be clean and well done. Not cheaping out on things. Does this mean when its time for an oil change hes just gonna slap some crisco in it and say good enough?? Come on kids. Dont start making us look like the cheap ass honda kids. You buy a 25,000 dollar car. Spend 800 bucks and at least get a nice catback system.

Quite frankly I really do not care one little bit.

If you do not decide to comment on every post with txt typing, then maybe you should not pick on the occasional your and you're.
