I'm looking to sell my 1995 L. NADA lists it at $2,925 "clean retail" (136k miles) which I find quite unbelievable. I bought it for $1,000 two years ago and have probably spent about $1,500 on it. I figure it's worth about $1,500 to maybe $2,000 but I seriously doubt it.
I have some areas that need serious attention, and I am curious if anyone has any ideas on how I could improve or fix these things without breaking the bank. If you have ever watched HGTV, think desing on a dime. Small investment but big payoff. Overall the car isn't terrible looking - I am just highlighting the worst parts. I was planning on selling it on Craigslist. 99% of those people wont care that I have KYB AGX's, H&R springs or WRX front and rear brakes. They will look at the wheels, paint and interior when deciding whether to shoot me an email or call me. Thanks for everyone's input. PS my budget is around $200 - $300. clean the interior... free
buy some seat covers buy a new front emblem buy a pedal cover set These things should help you sell the car.. I'd say 1500 is fair. Someone could put another couple grand into a paint job and some body work and have a good lookin car. More or less depending on if they can do any of it themselves |

It would make for a great first car or winter vehicle for somebody, and they generally wouldn't be to concerned with the paint, especially since they will most likely be on a budget. Just clean up it up, and do as stated above, and you should be able to get a decent offering. |

Doesn't that MAACO place have like $200 paint jobs? Problem solved! It's a crappy paint job complete with plenty of overspray and I'm sure it will start peeling within a couple years but that's not really going to be your problem, is it!?

Thanks guys! Any particular type of seat cover or will a generic one at wal-mart work just fine?
Regarding the roof that is fading - will that buff out or am I out of luck? Also, regarding the bumper, I know that paintscratch.com sells spray cans for $25, clear coat for $13 and primer for $12 per can. Anyone have experience with that? The Subaru symbol - any idea on how/where I can procure one? Same with a pedal cover set? (I'll check google too) Thanks! |

NOT IN BLUE.. BUT YOU GET THE PICTURE http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/A-T-U...Q5fAccessories Quote:
This might be worth at least looking in to... you can get different colors and it's pretty cheap with free shipping http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subar...Q5fAccessories I doubt that you can buff the roof and make it look better... but if you have the tools to do so.. i'd try it to be positive. Never used the paint you are referring to either Last edited by TGUN11; 08-16-2011 at 01:01 PM. |

Those seat covers look great. I'll be able to match both front and back for $60 - awesome! Now I just have to choose which color combo. Also, thanks for the link for the Subaru emblem and the brake rest pedal set.

the hood will not buff out any better and to be honest, you would just be wasting your time. maybe you should try selling as is and if that doesn't work then spend some money and seatcovers and what not? i just wouldn't want to see somebody throw good money after bad. when spending $2000 people are not expecting a very nice car and as long as you are pricing based on the damage, none of the items will be deal breakers

Thanks for your input Dave. I am going to go with seat covers. I still cant make up my mind if I am going to go with a solid seat cover or striped. I found some paint at paintscratch.com so I might give the bumpers a go. Haven't decided. The car that I was wanting to pick up (and thus sell my car for) is gone now, so I'll probably keep my car for a while longer. Winter is always a great time to sell an AWD Subie, especially after the first snow!
