As far as these lists, not a bad one. I don't agree with every choice, but in those 100 there are definitely quite a few with which I do agree.

Mazda miata should be on that list somewhere high. It is the most important sports car in modern history. Despite what my profile says I have never owned one. You cant go to an autocross or hpde, or club race without them being everywhere. I think the s1 elise should be there as well.
Not a terrible list but there are some head scratchers. |

That's... actually one of the best lists I've ever seen. They shouldn't have numbered them though because it makes some of the questionable stuff way more questionable. The WRX (not even STI) rated higher than the Evo VIII? Yeeeeah.
And the Skyline GT-R they even admit shouldn't be on the list. I think the Nissan Leaf has no business there, because it's simply not a relavant vehicle, first EV or not. They are missing a couple really good Hondas on there, and to be missing 3 of the Big 4 90's Japanese sports cars seems almost criminal. The FD and Mark IV should definitely be on there at least. There's also a surprising lack of 928, MR2/MR-S and the first-gen Celica, but I digress. |

I'd find a place for the McLaren F1. I don't think the Bugatti (or Zonda, etc) would exist without the F1 first.
Agreed on the Quattro also. Pioneered the AWD performance catagory. Overall a much better list than most. I got a soft spot for the MGB or Bugeye Sprite, but I can live with an honorable mention for the classic British roadsters as a group. |

I'm OK with the 87 Buick Grand National being on the list. But #20? Really? Higher than Shelby Cobra, Dodge Viper, Miata, '55 T-bird, 240Z, & Jaguar E-Type? [Keyshaun Johnson voice] C'MON, MAN! [/Keyshaun Johnson voice] Definitely shouldn't be in the top half. Should probably be no higher than mid-70s.

Lists like this of course reflect the feelings of those who write them, but I gotta ask GT40 below Leaf? Really? I realize it's more race than road car, but it's still held up as one of the most beautiful cars of all time - for good reason. |

Yeah, I don't think the numbers mean much. It's like Who's Line is it Anyway, everything's made up and the points don't matter

Mine is #31 (well mine is a 97 but same thing). I do agree quite a few cars are missing and some are questionable but overall this is a solid list. I'm quite surprised actually. hehe

I think the list is confused about it's intention. Some of these are the best, but some are the most important. Also, what defines 'best'...Some of them are technological marvels, some are exciting, some are simply the first for a company or saved a company, etc.
The list is too disjointed. |

I would pull the Nissan Leaf off the list and replace it with the EV1.

All in all, not a bad list. I certainly don't agree with the placement of several of the cars on the list, the most glaring imo is the Nissan Leaf; I don't think it should be anywhere near that high on the list. Also, the near end of the list block of old American muscle in various forms seems a little overly biased to me. Look at the cars we have today and where the technology/platforms have gone.......Sadly enough, the Camry, Corrola, Civic, etc have shaped more of modern life and car trends than just about anything. The big old cars that were cool and performed great back then, but are now matched or beaten by turbo FWD compacts, don't necessarily feel like the greatest cars of all time to me.

It was a million dollars and still considered a bargan. (IIRC, a factory reconditioned F1 sells for 4 times that now) It opened the doors to all the hype-expensive boutique cars we have today. Before the McLaren F1 it HAD to be a Ferrari or Lambo if you wanted to be taken seriously with your automotive jewelry. After reading the last few posts, I agree. The EV1 should replace the Leaf on the list. |
