Just got T-Boned by a 17 year old who ran a red light while I turned on a protected, green arrow.

Year, Make, Model: 04 Impreza STi
Impact Speed: 45-50 mph
Impact Location: Rear, Passenger Panel
Damage: No broken glass or damage anywhere other than what you see here.

Frame looks a bit bent to me. I'm on the line with this one. Let's see what you guys think.

This is something you should buy back from the insurance company and part out.

But yeah, that car is going to the pasture

I hit a tree at 15 mph and all it did was broke my passenger glass and bent the door card. But of coarse any newer car is unibody, and any damage - even slight - to the body in the door sills requires replacement sections. To modify and or replace a damaged unibody cost $8000 in labor alone. Not including parts for the doors, wheels, paint, ect.... Needless to say; we both totalled our cars. Good luck with new car shopping!

1. Punch the kid in the gut.
2. Buy a GC with a blown engine.

I'm pretty sure it's totaled as well. Figured I'd get some advice from others. I just replaced like everything under the hood and did a bunch of interior work/mods. I'm definitely not happy about this one; At all.

She will be on her way to the body shop shortly for the final call. The car WILL be bought back and I'll most likely be parting it out. So if anyone has anything they want dibs on, just send me a PM. (some stuff I may keep so don't be pissed if I'm not selling it)

The blown engine body is not a bad idea. I dunno. I kind of want to try out an 07 STi. Ugh. Decisions.

Anyways, thanks for pitching in guys. I couldn't lay the smack down because there was a cop next to me who witnessed the entire thing or else I would have chromed some dome.

Of to the next adventure!

My apologies.

I am located in the Salt Lake area of Utah. Body shop says it's toast so once I buy it back I'll start selling off stuff.

i just did an estimate with rates of $65hr mechanical $40hr body $27hr paint and materials
all oem parts
$6758

where are you located? (fill out your profile)
this will determine an accurate salvage bid i got a salvage bid of $6700

without your mileage, just guessing ACV lets say $15,800
so:

$15,800 acv
<$ 6,700> salv value
<$ 6,758> repair cost
<$ 450> rental cost
--------
$1,852 away from being ttl loss........if this number is negative, vehicle is ttl loss

need to figure: tax/title/license/dimished value as well but these are all state specific.

Many insurance companies have increased the damage/value ratio for total loss claims. Some are as high as 80%. So going by what you said really leans towards that this car is likely repairable and the op will be disappointed.

my state doesnt use percentages....TX justs uses simple math
I.E.
its either more cost effective to pay owner(total) or repair

like i said every state has their own rules.

my little work up there is what we call(drive by estimate) and by no means concrete evidence of total or not.
it will be close fur sure.

Car has 108k but radiator, alternator, power steering pump, battery, clutch etc were changed less than 20k miles ago.

Registration was paid in May.

Visible damage quote is at a little over 12k right now without even tearing it down. Time for repair would take about a month so you'd have to calculate that much into a rental.

State Farm will be calling me back to give me the final word on whether they total it or not soon.

The issue I think I'll be fighting is making sure I'm compensated fair value for my car with the work that was put into it as well as all the newer parts replaced between 80-100k.

Then the hunt for the next STi begins
