Default boost/ boost target

on the AP under the monitor menu you can select boost or boost target. what is the difference? why does one read higher than the other?

"Boost" is the actual "boost" based on the car's manifold pressure sensor. "Boost Target" is the target (at sea level) that the engine control unit (ECU) is attempting to hit.

You will not hit your target at all times - it is dependent on many factors.

i guess i am still not fully understandng. i am running stage 2 right now, it says in the notes on the cobb website that i should hit target boost of 16.5 +\- .7 and currently hitting 16.2. but when i go to monitor "boost" its much lower (cant remember exactly but it think it was around 11 or 12) so that is the acutal amount of boost my turbo/ car is putting out and 16.2 is what it is trying to hit or it is hitting 16.2?

Keep in mind that your boost tapers off towards redline, probably towards 11-12 psi.

"Boost" is your actual boost. The boost target will vary based primarily on RPM and throttle position and is determined by the map. The "boost target" is like the bullseye, while the "boost" is where the dart actually hits.

You will not always hit your boost target, but to make sure you are hitting within the range dictated by your map at peak boost, do a data log of a 3rd gear wide open throttle run from around 2500 RPM to near redline (if you can do so safely and assuming you have the version 2 AccessPORT). Make sure you reset the data log list to the default.

Here's a general video on how to data log with the v2 AccessPORT:
