Default SsangYong reveals crossover concept

Quote:
SsangYong will unveil a new crossover concept at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The SSangYong Concept XUV 1 is described by the Korean car manufacturer as a 'premium crossover utility vehicle'. The B-segment design will combine supermini dimensions with a high-seating position.
SsangYong issued three darkened images of Concept XUV 1 to hint at the machine's styling, but by lightening these images it is possible to see a more clearly defined shape.

SSangYong says the cabin will have an unconventional design. The seating layout will come in 1+1+2 or 1+3 forms, accessible via coach-style doors. Interior functions will all be controlled with mobile devices and smart instruments.

The Concept XUV 1 (the name is derived from ‘Excellent User Interface Vehicle 1’) will also feature a full glass roof and a wide, wraparound windscreen.

No performance details are available. SsangYong will relaunch its brand in the UK next month with the Kia Sportage-sized Korando crossover.

Small SUVs are booming, and so is in-car technology - so Ssangyong has developed a new concept to highlight how the two can live hand-in-hand.
The Korean maker's new concept is called the XUV1 - Excellent User Interface Vehicle - and the pint-sized SUV is said to feature an interior with functions that are controlled by mobile devices and "smart instruments".
Access to the tech-focused cabin comes from a rearward-opening door on either side, with the interior featuring an unconventional 1+1+2 or 1+3 modular seat layout. The driver will apparently have a "virtually uninterrupted" view of their surroundings due to the car's wraparound windscreen which stretches along both sides of the car to the large rear pillar. It also features a full length glass roof.

From the teaser images released by Ssangyong, the exterior of the car appears to feature sculpted wheel arches and a shallow glasshouse, with Ssangyong saying the bodywork has been "carefully curved" to "look imposing without seeming to appear 'aggressive'".

To ever sell these in the US, they'd need to change the brand name.

I use SSangYong ceramic cutting inserts at work. Never knew they made cars, too.

They don't need to. There are enough Koreans living here to sell to. I don't meant to come off as racist or anything but I work with/ for Koreans and let me tell you. They are insanely rich but go to Kia or Hyundai just because they are supporting their home country's economy.

SSangYong didn't "reveal" much with shadowy renderings.

They'd have a harder time than the Koreans in distancing themselves from past product mistakes:

Interesting, so that's how it is around Palisades Park? Because I noticed that if you go to NoVa, rich Koreas there all drive S-classes.

Even without the text, that van photo makes me giggle like anderson cooper...

I agree though, it isn't much of a concept any more than photographing an engine is the same as testing it's car at a track. I need more than stylized sketches using myspace angles. Yeah, I just went there.

I work in Emerson actually, there is a golf club run by Koreans there. If they don't own a Lexus or S-Class as you mentioned, they usually have a Genesis or other Hyundai/ Kia
