Default Cheers! First Photos of Ferrari 458 Italia Spider

Quote:
The first set of pictures of the Frankfurt Motor Show-bound Ferrari 458 Italia Spider have dripped out on the open thanks to the folks over at the Cheers & Gears fan site. Information remains scarce for now, but sources suggest that there's a retractable hardtop hiding under the dual pod behind the passenger area, and not a traditional cloth top as previously thought.
Unsurprisingly, we expect the Spider to feature the same marvelous 4.5-liter V8 engine with direct injection technology that powers the 458 Italia coupe model.
The V8 is rated at 570 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 540Nm or 398.2 lb-ft of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. Power will be sent to the rear wheels through Ferrari's 7-speed F1 dual-clutch gearbox.

Pretty much as I expedcted. Even more stunning than the hard-top and that much more unattainable (like the hard-top was attainable.

i actually don't think it looks as good as the hardtop. still sexy as hell, but i'd take the coupe over it.

I agree, I think that maybe the flying buttresses are slightly over done. Better yet, I wished there wasn't any, IMHO.

Artist render before official pics were released, which I think looks cleaner:

Default FR-S concept has a design worthy of a six-, or even a seven-figure price tag.

It can sit next to it..

Not unless the FR-S has somehow magically become mid-engined.

I hate Chris Harris...

somehow he is has created a job where he gets to drive all the best cars the second they come out...

I should have been an automotive journalist.

Y'know Scrappy, I would never purposely say anything to you to deliberately drive the nails in deeper or anything but... he also drove your Singer 911.

::ducks::

No, because if you were, this review would've been five seconds long with you saying, "no manual, no care."

There is far more to talk about that just the manual. I would have been an epic car reviewer. I can express the fact that I would prefer a manual, but rate the car on its merits. Which there are many...

You on the other hand would be a great CNN reporter. As you can not have any facts and yet you can make an 'informed' opinion.

That would be hilarious to watch.

"Today ScrappyDo reviews the 458... this specific model specifically flown in from Italy directly from the factory and even comes with its own special model number that indicates it's the 22nd 458 produced this year...

"NO MANUAL NO CARE"

ScrappyDo exits the car, slams the door, walks off set and takes off in his Miata after doing donuts around the 458.

It would probably be my 240Z,

or a BRZ... HAHAHAAHAHA

Best review ever...

then a camera would show me talking to lawyers, who say I must review according to my contract... so I would appear again, smiling in front of my Z with the tires still smoking.."Hello today I will be talking about the new Ferrari 458... "

It is all about production value and funny snipits. Again, why has Top Gear not Hired me yet?

In all fairness, I would probably be the best person to review such a car. I am not predisposed to hump it. My reviews on hybrid cars would be stunningly good.
