Sperm white is ugly. Aspen is so much better looking. When I parked my '08 Aspen STI next to a new "pearl" white '08 Impreza 2.5i it made the 2.5i look dirty... almost grungy.

I wish Subaru would get a little adventurous with the paints for once in 9 years. Blaze yellow, a bright orange or even a metallic brown would give the car some much needed visual zest.

Yes, I said brown. Brown sports cars from the 70s & 80s are classy-cool again.. Subaru should leverage that.

Top it off with generous amounts of wood trim on the dash.

A yellow BRZ would be pretty cool, though I wonder if Toyota is keeping yellow for itself for a "Release Series" FR-S. That's believable, but the tC RS7.0 is already yellow, so it might not happen.

I would also take one in that Lexus brown that the CT200h is offered in.

The browns that Subaru has been using the last few years... eww, not my thing.

Not too sure about offering WR blue on this car, either... save it for the WRX (or STI trims).

This color lineup seems a bit boring, other than the red. Seems they could've gone with either silver or dark gray and offered one blue instead of two, then broadened the palette. A matte choice (for extra $$) would've been excellent.

I would love this car in orange. I don't mean that burnt sparkly orange, I want Porsche orange. I also like the idea of brown...maybe like a rootbeer pearl brown. Yellow would be awesome on this car. I would also like to see a purple color.

Talking about colors, what do you think the chances are of getting unique colors on the FR-S? I know that Scion has some very unique colors that you see from time to time like vomit green, gold, light pearl purple.

Haters gonna hate, but I get a lot of compliments on my Sperm White Pearl setup. Some think it looks a little more classy than just stark/glue white.

Same here, often from people who don't normally like white cars. I liked the AW '08s when they came out but there's no way I'd choose it over my SWP.

That's called "being politically correct".

To borrow a line from Caddyshack:

I agree

Blue is nice but I already have 2 blue cars so that's out
Black hides all the body lines
Dark gray isn't too shabby but not for me
Galaxy blue (see WRB)
Red is looking nice
Silver is what people get when they can't decide what color to get
White is the wrong white

I could go for something a little off the beaten path.

I'm hoping we see something like the cashmere yellow/blaze yellow in one of the Scion release series models.

I wonder if the Scion/Toyota color palette will be a bit more diverse.

Scion does seem to like to use chrome yellow as a special edition color.

The suggestion of emulating Porsche colors is a good one... but probably not the cheapest, to have the supplies for painting relatively few cars in bold, unique colors.

But then again, there is the GT 86 RC specification... that will suit whatever color you want to paint it, after the fact.

Ohh, a good Hip post! Totally agree. For such a driver's car targeting sports car enthusiasts, they really stuck to the same boring corporate routine. Looking at Subaru's color chart over the past decade, I don't have much hope.

I think they made their palette official on December 1st.

The Lava is unique, at least.

finally got around to finishing this review and I really enjoyed it. I'm curious to see what he thinks about the car when he gets it onto normal streets and traffic. He mentioned not being able to comment on ride quality because he was on a smooth track. Great review though.

Orange is one of my favorite colors, but I have never liked pearls in orange paint. I do believe that Scion sells their iQ in hot lava so I might go take a look at a dealer and see how the color looks before I place an order.

I am honestly expecting Scion to drop some great colors on this car in the near future. Since they target a younger market, it is most likely they will have a special edition similar to the yellow tC

I've paid as much attention to Scion as I have to Buick. I have no idea what they've been up to. I'll probably end up with the Subaru anyways simply for the amenities.

I'm dreaming, but that rare aqua blue/teel color they used to offer on m3's and certain porsches would be sweet.

I guess each brand gets one unique bright color: Hot Lava orange for the Scion and WR Blue for the Subie.

For those who prefer refrigerator white to sperm white, I guess you'll have to go Scion.

When it comes to Porsche colors...I'd take Guards Red, Carrara White, or that epic silver they offered on the Carrera GT.

Lightning Red is too tomato colored for my taste.
