Have they released any info on the motor yet other than it being a boxer? Is there any change it'd be 2.5L and produce over 200 hp/tq stock?

Still have not come across any *official* confirmation regarding snail power for this BRZ...cheap and nimble, sounds like my cup of tea!

Prologue? If it's anything like GT5, there's going to be a long wait before it's finally released.

I'm sorry but if the Scion version is essentially the same thing, except it looks more aggressive and has a better name, I don't care what badge is on it, i'll choose it over the Subaru version.

Remember value. Will the Scion's resale be worth as much as the Subaru? |

But I wouldn't put it past them. Technology concept. Show the CAR. "It's only a model" may be a funny quip for a monty python bit, but it doesn't cut it anymore with this project. |

Man that engine setback relative to the struts is WEAK for non AWD sports car--so much for the boxer advantage... .

If it will be availible spring 2012, then this means that they need to start producing them at the plants in late 2011 to build up stock to start sending around in spring, no? So then by mid 2011 they should have a final design in place and use last remaiing months to retrofit the factories to pump these cars out, no?
also,we are less than 12 months away from spring 2012 (April 2012), 8 months to be exact.......In 8 months they will finalize everything and also have the factories already not only preped to build this car but also have built enough to send to dealers? Dunno but we are 8 months away from Spring 2012 and this car still has alot of unanswered questions..........OR is Subaru pulling our leg and is already further than we think but keeping it all under wraps just to build up hype? |

Hoping that if they're showing the finalized mechanicals, they will at least give engine specs, too. |

We will see, too, if the brake calipers are on the opposite ends on the front wheels. I'm thinking this will be a pretty solid representation of what we are getting this time. The Geneva one seemed very thrown-together-at-the-last-minute evidenced by the confusing RWD/AWD info plaque. |

Isn't the Toyota version getting a turbo? If he wants a turbo why not purchase the toyota/scion one. Same car but with turbo and you don't have to turbo it yourself..or..do an engine swap.

kidding aside, subaru is really going to look stupid if they can't make this car look good. the scion is looking fantastic. if subaru does it's usual, "looks-only-a-mother-can-love" styling, they're going to have their asses handed to them. they'll end up only selling 1/20th of what scion sells, after doing 1/2 of the r&d! i doubt that people are going to go flocking to it just because it has a boxer motor. especially if the scion motor is in the same ballpark, powerwise. come on, subaru! don't let us down!
edit: for reference, here's the scion version... Last edited by lil'redwagon; 08-24-2011 at 12:11 AM. |

Why not just name it Alcyone and be done with it?

I really wish people would stop asking that. It was suggested on Jalopnik as well.
![]() As if it isn't enough of a twist on the thorn in the sides of fans of Subaru AWD coupes, that this isn't one... But to have people suggest that this should share the same name as a completely different car, is just another twist on that thorn. The only things this car has in common with an XT or SVX (the cars that previously bore the Alcyone name) is that it has two side doors, four wheels, and pistons opposed to each other. Different layout, different execution, and a DIFFERENT PURPOSE. |
