Number two, where is te weakest link in an 08 2.5i's drivetrain? Number three, what engine is in the legacy gt from 1997, ive read most of the engine code/chassis code stickies, and from what i gather its a 2.2t open deck, i was kind of hoping i was wrong, hoping for a 255 or some semi closed deck. On a related note, im a college kid ( taking auto tech classes as pre-req for engineering hopefully) so i understand my car and how to do this swap. Ill be getting the legacy in a few weeks for very cheap.
The Legacy GT was not turbo until 05. The EJ22t only came in the 91-94 Legacy Turbo series. You will not find one with low miles but can have it rebuilt. The weakest link is your stock transmission, which will not be able to handle more than stock power for long.

Why did you buy a 08 2.5i instead of an older WRX if you wanted a turbo car? And why are you swapping in a motor that will put out about equal ( or even lower) hp/torque than your perfect stock motor which runs fine?

Usually people do swaps to gain power. Just sayin.

You might want to think about simply modding your 2.5i to gain some very valuable experience before attempting any kind of swap, much less what you are suggesting in your post...

You can do all kinds of small power mods (exhaust, intake, tuning) to gain a few hp and all kinds of cool handling mods.

Good luck out there...

I currently have a long tube CAI, and what is basically a fart can on my exhaust, i know i make enough power for my transmission to slip at peak torque, im wondering now if it would be difficult to obtain an obd2 cable and a wrx 5 speed with all the components, and swap that in instead.
