Is it just me (pardon my ignorance) but do a lot of the Euro cars have the strobe tail lights? I actually noticed the other night watching a few seasons of Top Gear and a ton of the cars have the flashing tail lights...is this something to do with the law like the fog tail lights on the bumpers...or is it a purely Euro thing?

Its more to do with pwm dimming and camera fame rates than anything. They don't look like that in real life.

Or they did it to mess with you.

They're led tail lights and anytime they are captured with a video camera they do that. I believe it has something to do with the refresh rate of the lights ..When you behind the car the look like normal LED tail lights.

This is circulating as a purported picture of the refresh. It looks like a Predator with its helmet off...

I have a feeling that may be the Veloster...it just doesn't look as sleek as the Gen Coupe body style IMO

No. That's the GC. The Veloster is FWD so the front wheels aren't that far forward of the firewall.

Those are modified GenCoupe headlights (truncated inboard tips, otherwise the shape is the same.

Those are also the same wheels as the spy-shot video, and the shape of the car matches the GC, apart from the styling changes.

When I saw the shots this morning, I instantly thought... they are aping the Zagato Vantage.

Maybe the Hyundai wouldn't look quite so odd, if the bumper beam cover piece were recessed a bit, and the whole gaping maw was mesh-covered, like the Zagato/Aston.

Either that, or the bumper beam cover should be painted body color (and ideally not recessed from the rest of the bumper cover) more like a stock Vantage.

Corporate face.. PASTED.

Looks good, IMO.. but there wasn't anything wrong with the GC's looks previously.

Underpowered? For the I-4.. maybe.

Have you driven one? The V6 is lighter than the Mustang V6 and is about the same size. They're big cars.. not really overweight at all.

The I-4 has more potential aftermarketwise though. The V6 doesn't have near the part availability as the 4 banger. It is a 4B11 based engine so we all know what the evo can do. This car was meant to be a tuner car. The V6 is great too but as far as potential...the 4 banger has it beat IMO

Plus, the likely advent of both the DFI-Turbo 4 with 260-275hp... from the Sonata/Optima/Sportage...

And the DFI-atmospheric 3.8 V6 with 330hp (up from ~308 IIRC) that debuted on the 2011 face lifted Genesis Sedan.

And the next generation coupe body (after this re-fresh, probably '14 or '15 model year), will probably have the 420+hp Tau 5.0 V8 like the Sedan does.
