Default JDM/EDM STi V7 headlights - RHD to LHD beam pattern conversion

Hi guys,
I am about to embark on this mod...I think. Due to the LHD EDM headlights being quite hard to find nowadays and very spendy, I want to get a set of JDM bugeye headlights and then change the projector shields from RHD to LHD beam pattern. The shields can be found on Ebay for 150 bucks and the install seems pretty strait forward. I am wondering if anyone has used a set of these shields and could share thier experience with them?
I'd much rather make my own shields as $150 for a couple small peices of aluminum seems a bit steep, but I feel that the task isn't as easy as it may sound...

Any thoughts or anyone who has personally used these conversion shields?

I have seen a few people do this as well, however the results have not been good. Right above the cutoff line, there is a large blob of glare due to the shield being too short...
They end up lookin like this:

Anybody actually swapped the RHD shields for LHD shields???
