holy crap. I'd tell that commish to get bent and go find another league. I know there's a lot of variations to FF that are "different" but that way isn't even right.

this, but it could be a league problem and not isolated to the commish.

Retire. Wait for the Bengals to get to 99% on their salary cap as per CBA rules. Unretire. The Bengals must now either cut players to make room for him, or cut/trade him.

Either way, it's a great F U move from Carson to the whole misguided ownership group.
I'm a Cincy native so I have been following this closely for a long time. Everything wrong with the Bengals is Mike Brown and his half-wit brother Pete. His decisions have pissed off residents as well as the team for 20 years. That's why Palmer wanted out and gave the ultimatum of trade/retire. It wasn't because of their performance or Marvin Lewis like some people speculate. Brown took that as a formal challenge to his vision and **** on Palmer completely out of principle. Now they are complete enemies and the Bengals are proper ****ed. You're right about Brown having buyer's remorse. He just wants the money freed up but certainly doesn't want Palmer at Paul Brown. From what I gather Carson doesn't even want to play football anymore, he's got a family and a bank account rumored to have 60+ million in it. He has been the franchise player & genuinely liked by Nati, it's just sad to see him shoot the hostage..

I'm a FF noob but one of my friends talked me into joining a league this year. I don't watch a lot of football but decided to give it a shot.

It's a 12 team league $80 buy in. We had our draft the other night and this is my team.

QB: Roethlisberger
E. manning

RB: D. McFadden
P. Hillis
M. Bush
R. Wiiliams
S. Ridley

WR: M. Wallace
C. Ochocinco
P. Garcon
H. Ward

TE: J. Witten
Z. Miller

K: Janikowski

D: Jets

Don't do this. That's 50% of your receiving corps.

Hines Ward's role has been diminishing even as a #3 WR.
Garcon is not even a starting WR and he has Braylon Edwards hands.

More like he was last in the league last year so he wanted someone worse then him on it.\

I realize it's not the best line up, I was 9th in the draft order. I'm going to keep Ocho for now, I want to see if they do anything with him plus I'm a pats fan so I wanted at least one NE player on my roster. I'm not looking to win the league or anything, it's more of a way to get me into watching different games.

This...last year we actually had a "Wildcard" player that could be stolen by another team the Tuesday after you played him, as though he was a free agent. So if your wildcard had a stellar week he would get jacked immediately. It was so stupid.

I joined when I just started with a new company and moved to a smaller town so it was kind of networking thing to begin with, my options are kind of limited.

Latest auction mock drafts show people are wayyyy overpaying Fitzgerald, Wells, Green-Ellis, Calvin Johnson, AP, Jamaal Charles (more than for AP?) and Roddy White.

I'm trying to figure out who you picked first round at 9. McFadden? Had to be other choices. He's a 2nd rounder to me.

How do you assign your price tags? My system was somewhat complicated but very reasonably assigned auction values based on projected performance. I was kinda shocked at how it (appropriately) scales exponentially.

Semi-cliffnotes of the methodology:

Take your league settings and add up all the total positions. If it's 10 team league with 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, then take the projected point totals for the top 10 QBs, top 20 RBs, top 30 WRs, and top 10 TEs and add them together. Now divide that by your league's total salary cap ($200 * 10 teams = $2000). Now you have a point-per-dollar conversion.

Now zero everyone out by taking the worst starting player at each position (i.e. QB10, RB20, WR30, TE10) and subtracting their points from everyone at that position. If QB1 scores 370 points and QB10 scores 290, QB1 would now have 80 and QB10 would have 0. This is a player's VORP for my sheet, value over replacement player.

Take everyone's VORP and divide it by your point-per-dollar conversion factor. If it was 1.5 points/$ and a player's (QB1) VORP was 80, 80 pts/(1.5 pts/$1) = $53.

Edit: you can see how a league's settings DRASTICALLY changes how auction values change. By adding a WR/RB slot, or a WR/TE slot, or a 3rd RB, or a 2nd QB, the numbers are going to shift especially because of that value based correction. The 20th QB is a LOT worse than the 10th QB, so the best QB is even more valuable, but the point-per-$ conversion factor will have changed as well. Likewise if you say receptions are worth a point vs. not worth a point, this methodology will automatically update auction values and give the appropriate boosts to WRs, pass catching RBs, and demote guys like Michael Turner as he'll represent a smaller % of the points pool.

My brain hurts .

I used projected points against my average mock draft costs for 12 person auction, standard rules. Using 4 mocks per player, added, averaged cost and then divided that against their projected points for the season.

IE, if Fitzgerald is set to make 197 FF points, and I find his average auction in a 12 team league is 38 dollars, I divide 197 by 38 and comes up with a number. Then I'll set a ceiling; IE I feel he is worth my dollars until 42$ and at that point his cost is above my set value.

I thought it was bad I did Mocks in the background of my work desktop.

However, it's cool he has a system like that. I am terrible at math and my setup is very limited in its scope, it doesn't take into account alot of stuff.

Thing that worries me about Vinatieri is the Colts score so much TD's it takes away from FG points.

ScubaruImpreza05,

You wanna trade me Jimmy Graham, Ill give you Tony Gonzalez and possibly Reggie Bush.

Yes McFadden. I'm not too football savvy and out of the remaining RBs he was at the top of the list.

this is why i recommended graham gano

he looks solid in preseason (10/10) and the redskins suck in the red zone. plus, he's got a rocket for a leg.

True but the odds of them scoring is higher than the other teams which would mean more possibilities of FGs. SF and NYJ aren't as high scoring plus they are outdoors. IND is the only high scoring team and they are indoors.

Robbie, although the field sucks, is one of the top FG kickers in history. He doesn't miss often.

But can the Redskins get into the red zone consistently in the regular season with their QB situation?

Makes sense. So you would put Vinatieri a step ahead of Robbie?

Just had our draft. 12 team, no PPR, I had 1st pick. Thanks to a couple people auto-drafting and some owners and their questionable picks I am pretty happy with the results.

1. Adrian Peterson RB1
2. Larry Fitzgerald WR1
3. Vincent Jackson WR2
4. Jeremy Maclin WR3
5. DeAngelo Williams RB2
7. Josh Freeman QB
9. Kellen Winslow TE
13. Patriots DEF
15. Neil Rackers K

6. Mark Ingram BN
8. Pierre Garcon BN
10. Brandon Jacobs BN
11. A.J. Green BN
12. Kyle Orton BN
14. Darren Sproles BN
