Default Interchangeable ecu for ej20g?

I have an ej20g from a 96 wrx wagon and from my understanding it seems to be a better idea to find a newer compatible ecu for this engine. So now I'm curious as to what ecu would be a good option for this? By the way this is going into a usdm 99 legacy gt.

Where can I find those at? Also, how much does it normally cost to get a full tune?

Newer and compatible don't exist. If you want a better factory ECU for your car, you want either a Z4 from a sedan or a 6K ecu from an STI. Those are both contemporary to your car but higher powered. However, they are designed for use with the td05 turbo. You have a td04 turbo on your car unless you have upgraded it. I would upgrade the turbo before doing anything else. And then what I would personally do is get bigger injectors and a Rob-tune chip installed on your stock ECU. It's a better approach than finding a replacement ECU or messing around with a standalone.

Don't get a power fc. They don't have knock control. Get bad gas and it's all over.

You can use the Z4, Z5 or 6K ecu with a tdo4, but you need a mbc. It would be better to upgrade to a td05

The chip from rob and 550cc injectors is the best bet unless you plan on more than 300 whp.

He doesn't have an ecu or wiring harness yet, just the motor. Would you still go with the old ecu's and chip? He is looking to buy an ecu and harness to merge with his car.

Depends on the person then.

If he's the kind of guy who can do his own wiring and tuning a standalone makes sense

If he's the kind of guy who sends out wiring to be done and wants a plug it in, forget about it and go solution, go with a chipped stock ecu.

I though it would be easier to get like an sti ecu and harness and merge that(I didn't know if that would work or not). For tuning, cost, wiring, ect...I would definately take what munson and 360 say to be the best route.

Huh? I definitely don't know what you're talking about on that one. So where are you guys tailing about exactly when it comes to the rob chip? I haven't heard anything about these.

But would it really be that difficult to just find what I need? I still would like more information about the rob chip also.
