Default New cobb AP used eith current open source tune?

I currently have an open source tune from my tuner. My next upgrade is the turbo and he's going to tune with the Cobb AP for me. Just ordered my AP and curious if it would hurt my current tune configuration to install the AP? I was wanting to just use the logging and other data features for now not install any maps.

Installing the AP would completely overwrite your open source tune with whatever Cobb map you selected during the install. With the AP version 2, it would back up your open source tune and then restore that tune if you were to uninstall the AP.

If you have mods that are not supported by our off-the-shelf maps, then you would not want to install the AP until you get a Cobb tune from your tuner.

i just bought an 05 wrx, he said he had a custom tune that was running 95 oct but is okay with 91oct with oct booster. i found a ots map that is close to matching the specs/hardware of the car. are ots maps considered safer like baselines then tune it from there?

should i stick to his custom 95oct tune or use the ots?

Why did you feel the need to switch to the AP after having an Open Source tune on it already?

Because my tuner is going to build me a custom tune with my turbo upgrade using the AP software with extra maps for valet and killswitch for alternate maps plus I want the data streaming features.

Actually yeah I would think you should be fine cause when you hook it up it downloads your current flash as your stock flash, I don't think it makes you change it unless you choose to but it backs yours up just incase

The AP v2 backs up the current flash, but there is no way you can use it. This is because when the AP is married to the ECU it requires custom ROM code for real-time tuning and other functions that would not be present on a non-Cobb flash. Only when you uninstall, will the original flash (in this case, an OS tune) be restored.
