Default My 2011 WRX 5-door Spare tire well sub install.

First off, I have to give all the credit to imprezed2011wrx for his build here which i completely copied http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2215905. Only problem was that half way through, i realized by 5-door trunk was not nearly as big as the sedan's trunk so mine is pretty tight.

Started the build friday night and finished sunday afternoon. Probably took a total of 20 hours. I took my time as this was my first time ever working with fiberglass, and only the second sub build and install i've ever done. This was my first time installing a head unit, but that was pretty easy.

My friend took some pics during the build as a don't have a camera, and a 6 year old flip phone... I'll post those when he sends them to me.

Fiberglass box has 3 layers of 1.5 oz chopped strand mat. 2 layers wherever i joined fiberglass to the mdf wall or top. Dynamat'd the trunk before starting. Had to cut the left styrofoam piece in order for it to have a straight edge. Laid tin foil, then two layers of blue painters tape. Wiped the tape with carnuba wax.

Temporarily powered by a hifonics brutus elite 1600d. 1200w at 2 ohm. Gain is set to about 1 o'clock, 0 sub boost. (i tried it a little higher, and can get some major excursion, but its accompanied by some minor clicking noise, so i backed it down. I don't think the amp was clipping, and the subs were bottoming out, so not sure what it was). 2 Dayton 265HO 10", 600w rms. Tsumai 4 guage wiring kit. JVC KW-AVX840 headunit. I measured the box before I sealed it up and got approx .9 cu ft. before sub displacement. So i guessed i have about .30 cu ft per sub ~ .60 total. Haha there's barely any room in the box, but i'm so impressed with how these sound.

Once i get my amp, i'll built some sort of small wooden amp rack. Then need to raise the floor about an inch. Also need to carpet the box still.

The video's audio is terrible and basically doesn't pick up anything below like 50 hz except for a blurp here and there. Let me just say that the subs rocks! Nice and tight sound, and if i want them to, i can get them to rumble.

*disclaimer - i don't listen to dubstep, but figured it was a good benchmark to display the subs, although you ended up not being able to hear anything.

Hey, nice build my friend. Looks good, looks like it sounds good from the video too. How much Dynamat did you use, and what else did you deaden?

You got any components yet? I just got a set for my '06, a few of my friends thought I was listening to completely different music after they sat in my car!

Do you actually listen to that stuff?! What am I missing now in the trends of music. Damn man, damn.

Despite the music that looks like a lot of thump!

It's definitely great to listen to if you have subwoofers. Try listening to:
SUPER repetitive, but the bass is amazing!
