2pt5RS.....I have the same problem. Those links are great and chop full of information but it still remains unclear as to what intake will work on the 99RS.

I have been sitting on my hands waiting for some intake to come along and be 100%, but have not seen anything.

Can anyone help us out, what intakes work with our goofy sensors???

Does the MAF recall help us 99 guys out at all?

I along with danzborin have cut a Cobb intake which i am sure everyone one the board agrees has a nice boost in proformance and it has yet to run lean on me it runs rich most of the time. Havent read to much about the injen though I think partick olsen has one on his 97 OBS IIRC

I had my sensor changed via the recall, go do it if you haven't yet!

I had a setup like what was shown in the first link from Poppa Smurf except I used a Amsoil panel filter instead of a cone filter. I also installed the gasket in the large box insted of the filter. This setup is much better than stock but not as good as a full intake. Since I had my Maf replaced I got a used rallispec intake and it is GREAT!!!

Some people mention a loss of torque if you remove the large plenum but I haven't noticed any signifigant change. My car has much better high end and it gets into the higher RPM's much faster. Just be aware that the full intakes are very loud! My intake at WOT is louder than my exhaust!

IMHO don't waste you time with changing that tube and just get a full intake. The new AEM intakes look good or scan the classifieds for a good used intake. Since you already have an adapor and a cone filter, any Intake with a J tube will work. I would reccomend a foam filter insted of an oiled cotton gauze filter becase it has been shown that the oil can build up on the sensor and eventually cause it to fail. Also you might try imprezars.com, Larry is a great guy to deal with or you can scan his links for other vendors.

Just my .02
