Default [PICS] Door damage. Should I just Bondo and paint or bother replacing the door?

Since the car is going to be a beater rally car and there will be a roll cage back there, I was just planning on pulling the dent and slapping some Bondo over it. The appraiser seems to think that I have "massive side impact beam damage" that warrants a new door.

Opinions? Since the door opens true, latches just fine and has no scrubbing I don't see any reason to replace the door...the damage is minimal to both my door and the Honda so it looked like a very low speed impact.

If it's my daily driver, than it's a "massive damage". If it's a rally car, then it's nothing.

I'd definitely like the insurance company to cut a big check so that you can use it on something else.

Technically, I won't be spending it on "something else". I'll be using the insurance payout for supplies and I'll be purchasing a large compressor and a paint gun. Hear that Kris? No more rattlecans! Next time we have to do your car it'll be with the gun.

doesnt need no work. it will pop right out with some TLC, Go to the DIY shop and buy a toilet plunger come home slap it in the middle and pull out. Take the door guard off of the door first.

for the crack in the paint work smipley sand a line out and fill it with cealulose filler (sp?). Sand the whole area down past the clear coat, then put a light coating of green paint and clear coat again. It would look as good as new.

Well, the whole care is being repainted white/blue twotone using the Realtime Racing scheme as a template so color isn't an issue. Thanks for the tip though!

I guess it would depend on how much of the dent pops out and how much mud it'll take to smooth out the door. Too much and you'll be repairing the door after every rally (not that the possibility doesn't exist for that anyway!).

What's a boneyard door go for? Cheap enough and I'd score the door and save the headaches and labor (basically because I HATE doing bodywork!).

Buy a dent puller and pop that bad boy out. Nothing more.

This man is correct! My guess is less than a $100 for the whole door. Why mess around with bondo and still have a bent impact bar?
