BELLEVUE, Wash. - High speed and alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors in a rollover crash Monday night that seriously injured one teen and left three others with minor injuries, Bellevue police said.

Officers and other emergency personnel responded to the scene, in the 5200 block of Highland Drive, at around 10 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash, said Seth Tyler of the Bellevue police.
The mangled wreckage of a car was found flipped over on its roof in the middle of the roadway at the scene.
One seriously injured teenage passenger was found trapped inside the front passenger seat. Firefighters used heavy extrication equipment to remove the passenger from the car, then rushed him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
The driver, an 18-year-old Bellevue resident, sustained minor injuries, along with two other teenage passengers who were able to get out of the wreckage on their own.
A preliminary investigation found that the driver apparently lost control while speeeding, then flipped the car over.
"Investigators believe that speed and drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash," Tyler said in a prepared statement.
The crash remains under investigation.

Ugh... stop buying your teenagers fast cars. I had to start with an 87 GL with sub 100 HP.

They all lived thankfully.

That driver will have to pay a **** load for insurance and whatever else (civil, legal, etc) now for being a dumbass. I would say, "but who wasn't a dumbass at 18?" but the DUI was way over the top. I wouldn't even necessarily jump to blame the passengers as they might not have known...I know I have experienced that first hand. Some people are really good at deception.

Nothing says "sorry for neglecting you" like buying the car your kid will kill himself or his friends in.

When I was living in FL 4 teens died in a trailblazer SS.

Yep.. I wanted the $12000 1993 Legacy turbo (or the $5995 RX) on the lot back in high school... I ended up with the $2700 GL. But it kept me out of trouble and I learned how to work on cars because of how unreliable it was. Plus I got my login name. I can't imagine how much trouble I could have gotten into at age 18 with something like a turbo Legacy or even a modern WRX had they existed then.

I know it's hard to keep your foot out of it with cars like ours, but time and place bro... bad enough if you get hurt, but putting other people's lives in danger is irresponsible. Glad everyone is ok though!

I was given a $700 6 cylinder automatic Mustang with bald 155 rear tires and a season pass to the mountain my senior year in HS. I nearly killed myself multiple times in that car. Parents were not pleased...that I survived. lol

Went from learning in a '72 Datsun 510 to an '87 GL wagon in later years. Didn't get my WRX until 47, and honestly I still think I was too young to drive it responsibly.

I bought my WRX when I was 25. I don't have it anymore because I made a totally different mistake, and my old bank ended up with a car with a bad engine, transmission, and rear diff. It had 200k miles on it and needed a rebuild.
