I'm not purposely trying to disturb my neighbors. I honestly think the real issue is that I leave at 5 am. If I had a Cobb catback they would probably still hear me because ots dead silent out at that time. I'm hoping that going out the neighborhood the other way and avoiding the hill will help bit only time will tell. However I'm not going to let my hoa try to bully me around.

This kind of **** pisses me off. People can't expect it to be dead quiet in their neighborhood all the time. I can't help but laugh because living in the city it can potentially be loud any hour of the night and there is nothing you can do about it. Douche bags racing at 3am or loud ass scooters with no muffler driving home by your window every night (my favorite). These people are complaining about one car at 5am? Wow. Maybe they shouldn't have bought such a piece of ****, poorly insulated house that one car is able to disturb them at a perfectly reasonable hour for someone to be leaving for work.

Qft, not to mention that its a neighborhood close to a military installation. I'm sure he's not the only soldier who lives in or close to there.

I suppose I am just dumbfounded that you think you're not bothering anyone, or think that you're entitled to do whatever you want. You knowingly have one of the loudest exhausts sans silencer on your car and you leave every morning at 5am; That would piss any NORMAL person off.

I appreciate that you wish someone would have handled it differently (ie. come to you directly), but that is partially why there is a HOA, so people dont have to face problems directly. Look at this from the other persons point of view, they get awaken every single morning by a car that is OBVIOUSLY aggressively loud. They probably dont know you, all they see is a younger guy with an aggressive looking car and probably stereotype a bit...that is fine, it happens.

So, you have a couple options, make friends with your neighbors at least become friendly to them (wave, say hi, even bake them some cookies...who cares, just be nice). The absolute LAST thing you want to do is piss and/or burn the bridges of the people that are going to make the decisions (the HOA managers/presidents). You want to be as nice (and mature) to those people as possible, because no matter what you want to believe, they make the rules.

Regarding your HOA fee and it being for "no damn reason":

You pay a HOA fee to 'protect' the community from annoying things, like people with loud ass cars. But aside from that, they protect your neighborhood from becoming a rathole with overgrown grass, broken down cars in yards, things like that. HOA's will keep the neighborhood nice (or at least they should, because that is why you pay them) which is not "for no damn reason".

+1 ^^^ I traded to a quieter Cobb knock-off CBE from a uber loud angled can. Trying to keep my wife and neighbors happy... They still hear me. I leave at 5am you can hear mice fart at those hours.

oh, and regarding trading for a Cobb being the same....NO CHANCE. A N1 Race is so incredibly loud comparatively.

n1 race = obnoxious
cobb = noticeable? sure. Obnoxious? not at all

Like I said I'm not intentionally trying to upset people. I realize that my car is loud and as I've stated I will do everything in my power to mitigate the noise. Where my biggest complaint us coming from us the fact that the neighbor could not approach me. Ontop of that what if I were to dd a Harley? Would the hoa expect me to sale my bike and buy something else? I also understand what an hoa us for and I understand the "services" they provide. However, there is no communal property in my neighborhood, they don't have a lawn service, and they don't maintain roads/sidewalks worth a damn. So basically everyone in my neighborhood is paying $45 a month to recieve annoying letters and when they call to ask questions are given excuses. I might have burned a bridge with the "assistant manager". But I also never told her my name or my address so I really doubt it will be an issue.

Didn't say it would be the same just that they would still hear me at 5 am.

Yes, fine, you didn't say "the same", the point you were trying to make however, implied that.

You were using the argument that if you put on a Cobb, it would still be noticeable and heard because its 5am and quiet. Essentially saying that they would still complain no matter what exhaust you have on.

My point is that, yes, you might be heard but no one is going to have an issue with you because its not obnoxious.

And what if you had a DD Harley? You dont, so that is irrelevant. That is like saying to the cop that gives you a exhaust ticket, "you dont give this to Harley riders", it doesn't make a difference because you'll still get the ticket. Yes, you're right, a Harley is loud, and people my or may not have an issue with it.

My point here is not to be combative. My point is just to point out the fact that it appears to me (some guy on the internet that read your post bitching about your HOA) that you're really approaching this with the wrong attitude. It seems like you KNOW it is a potential issue and you still are upset when someone calls you on it. To use my police analogy again: its like bitching to the cop whos giving you a ticket when you know your exhaust is too loud. Or even coming on here and asking "anyone know any good traffic lawyers because I got an exhaust ticket".

Lol. I'm not trying to deny the fact that I'm in the wrong because I definitely am. I'm more upset with the fact that my neighbor which I would assume is a grown ass man can't just come talk to me. I have no intentions of changing my exhaust but I will mitigate noise by coasting down the hill and keeping it under 1500 rpms if that's what it takes. If the neighbor is still butt hurt about it than he will just have to deal with it for another month and then ill be in Afghanistan for a year so I'm sure he will forget about it

Amen to that!

I'm an Ex-Realtor and you can easily see the benefits of an HOA community to a Non. Yes, the dues can become pointless to the non trained eye...but you can see it in the overall value of your home.

I'd rather pay a HOA due than live to the people who decide to paint their house all purple and park their 25 ft boat in the drive way covered in a big blue tarp. Try selling your home with that next to yours.

Anywho..back on topic.

Steering rack bushings, axles and ball joints the other day. Nice to have all the little maintenance things taken care of. Steering rack boots, and new front wheel bearings ordered today as well.
