Today I painted the STI logo onto my TMIC. So here is my process because I decided not to pay $15 plus $5 shipping.

---- straightened the fins first with a fin straightening tool and dental tools

1) Stare at a large picture of someone who has already painted theirs and count the amount of fins from the left, right, top and bottom the logo is.

2) Go out to your car and measure in between the fins that you counted to come up with the size of the stencil you need to make...5" tall x 16" wide

3) Find a large STI logo using Google Images then print it out to the 5x16" size you need ( two pages ) and marry up the two pages to have one paper stencil.

4) Go onto the internet and get the dimensions of the 2011 STI TMIC ( 21 5/8" x 7 1/2" ) then subtract your stencil size to find out the gaps you need on each side and top and bottom. ( 1 1/8" top and bottom gaps 2 13/16" side gaps )

5) Tape the stencil onto a large piece of cardboard, trace the STI logo with an hobby knife to make the stencil out of the cardboard and then cut out the TMIC dimensions to make it so that your stencil sits right on top of the fins covering them all up.

6) Cover your new stencil with painters tape to make it more durable as well as reusable for any of your friends that may want it.

7) Place the new stencil on the TMIC and cover your engine bay with news paper to prevent over spray.

8) Use red Hi-Temp brake caliper paint DO NOT USE ENGINE ENAMEL

9) Let the paint dry then remove and enjoy.....

Also added on a guard for the TMIC to keep the fins nice
Guard is 1/4" square chicken wire from Coastal Farm and Ranch painted black cut to the dimensions of 7 1/2" x 23 1/2"

Lowered the car this week with some Tein Tech-s spring. Getting alignment this week.

By dedison360 at 2012-08-26

Also picked up some winter wheels and just finished repainting them

The paint i used was Rust-Oleum Engine Enamel. I think it is the Chevy Orange.

Thinking next i am going to paint my rims that are on the car now but the Chrysler Hemi Orange. It is a little brighter.
