Default Apparently I bought a married AP V2

I have an AP Sub 001. I bought it from a person on a local forum. He told me he divorced it with his ecu, however after I tried marrying it to my car it would not sync up with it. It never went through the phase for the install. I saw read that it will only work with one vehicle at a time. However I am still wondering if their is anything I can do. Help would be appreciated.

It's true that an AP can only work with one vehicle at a time. It's kinda like Cobb's "copy protection" to make sure you and 5 buddies don't split the cost of one AP and then use it on all your cars.

That being said, it's definitely F'd up if someone sold you a married one. Is this guy cool enough to go back to and discuss or is he long gone? Either, A) you can take it back to him and if he still has the car, go through the unmarry procedure and then you should be good to go on your car. Either that or try to get your money back. I believe there is certain programming on the AP for specific model years. Did he have the same year car as yours?

B) The other possible option, although I don't know enough about it, is to send it back to Cobb. I know they have some pretty strict hoops you have to jump through to prove it's not stolen and that you have to explain what happened. They can reprogram it for you (for a fee possibly?).

C) It may be stolen. If the guy stole the AP, which was married at the time of the theft, you're pretty much screwed. You have someone else's AP that is married to their car. Good luck with that.

I actually bought my AP off of this forum from another member. It's always risky, especially when so much money is at stake and the other member is not local to you. I had him send me a pic showing the main "Install" page or whatever of the AP screen with a piece of paper that had the date and his NASIOC username on it. It worked out well and I didn't have any problems. Then again, you probably don't want to hear about that... Sorry!

Good luck man!

I am sorry to hear about your troubles with the AccessPORT! It could be that the person who sold you the AccessPORT did not fully uninstall before sending it in. It could be that they only installed the stock map believing that this was the same as uninstalling the AccessPORT. You can determine if the AccessPORT is installed very easily. Go to the "about" screen and you can see if the unit is installed, it will tell you if it is already installed.

If it is in an installed state, I would try to contact the original seller and see about getting it uninstalled. If he is local to you, this would be rather simple. If that is not possible, you need to get a refund as he has sold you a useless unit. We can re-license your AccessPORT, but we do charge a fee for this.

If the AccessPORT is not in an installed state and is "uninstalled" then you should be able to install the unit. Are you using the proper installation procedures? Are you connecting the green plugs and is the car in test mode? If not, this is the first step. If you continue to have issues, please call us at 1-866-922-3059 and we can walk you through the first installation.

Alright at this point does anyone know how much the re-license fee is. I am not going to write the seller off yet, but I need to see what plan B would cost and how long it would take.

Contact Cobb at the number provided in Travis's post above. They should be able to tell you real quick.
