Default OBP with White/Metallic/Dust(?) Speckles In Paint

Hi all,

I apologize in advance for not having pictures of what I'm about to explain, but I can snap pictures if anyone is interested.

My car is OBP and I've always had a love-hate relationship with the paint.

I just did a quick wash/clay/wax this past weekend on it and I've noticed that all over every horizontal panel there are white/silver speckles in the paint that almost look like a uniform metallic flake in the paint. What concerns me is that it's not in the vertical panels to the same extent. The only way to describe what I am seeing is that the car looks "dusty" in direct sunlight.

I hit my hood with Menzerna Micro Polish and a LC blue on my PC7424 to just see if I could get anything out and it really didn't do anything. I ended up throwing a coat of S100 on just to give me some protection.

Any ideas on what I might be up against?

I have always had problems with ANYTHING that touches the paint etching into it.

I usually run Collinate 845 in the winter and S100 in the summer. I had broken my ankle over the winter/spring so this is my first proper clay/wax in a little too long.

I'm leery to do any more buffing on the car as I have already hit every panel with Menzerna IP and up to a LC yellow to pull swirls from the previous owner.

I'm wondering if it's maybe some sort of tree sap? There is a row low pine trees approximately 10 feet from my car that could maybe weep if the wind is right? The best I've got so far is hitting it with IPA and seeing if that will do anything.

I've already dealt with etching, some sort of yellow sap like deposit that eats down to primer...so I'm not afraid to put in the work.

Just an update:

Did a test wipedown with IPA and wasn't able to remove anything.

I did notice these speckles are literally on every panel on the car including glass/trim.

My truck which is parked next to the car has nothing along those lines on it. I did try with my nail on one spot and I couldn't remove it.

Any thoughts?

Was your car repainted? When I had parts sprayed the pearl they used had blue green and some gold in it.

Nah...I've done a bunch of reading on this since then and the best I can come up with is overspray.

Time to order up some more aggressive clay and go at it.

Well...overspray it was.

Ordered some Megs blue clay and some Wolfgang clay lube and did some test work on the hood and the car's back to black.

Now time to take a few weeks off of work and do the rest of the car (took me nearly 3 hours to wash/clay/polish/wax the hood alone.

Take a weekend to work on the car.
Last time I detailed my car, inside and out, it took me two days.

One day to wash, clay, 2 coats of polish, 2 coats of wax, cleaned doorjambs, and wipe down every piece of rubber weather stripping I could get my paws on.

One day, to pull my interior seat, vacuum, steam clean carpets and seats, clean the vinyl, vinyl dressing it, and clean the windows.

Needless to say, I slept like a baby the next couple nights.
lol

Me too sir, me too. Well, at least I now know how to get rid of my problems when I do have time. Turns out Menzerna Micropolish on an LC Blue pad takes out 90% of the imperfections/swirls on my hood. Couldn't be more pleased.
