Default Anyone use Century Link for internet?

Comparing with Cox...Century is comparably faster/less expensive based on what is advertised. Looking for some opinions from actual experience.

Currently the tech will be the same as if you Qwest DSL. Nothing wrong with that, depending on your location, and the new owner seem like a better company, management wise. Upload speeds will be slower, but only for a few of us does that make a difference in normal use.

i have the fiber 40 down/5 up connection with them. It has been 100% reliable so far, as well as consistently fast. Fyi if it sucked i would tell you. I work on the internet all day long from home as thats what i do for a living, while i program, remote into places.

my dads company has century link for their internet at his company and they can't wait for their contract to be over with century because of all their problems they've had with connecting download speed and what not. I've never had a problem with cox. i would stick with them if i were you. but thats my .02

Is that a VDSL fiber connection, because i agree the adsl2 + connections from them are not very good. I use them as my main feed in areas i dont have other choices for.

I had cox, went to qwest (century) but kept finding pages wouldn't completely load. Kept dropping packets. Speed was fine but it just wasn't robust enough. Went back to cox recently. Plus they are not as cheap as advertised.

I've had Century Link/Qwest for years. Never really had any major problems with them. When I upgraded to the highest speed, they told me I needed a new modem and a tech to come install it. They didn't charge me for any of that. Just recently the internet stopped working. The day after I called there was a tech at my house and he had to replace the modem. That again was all at no charge to me.

The same thing happens to cable modems. I have to replace mine ever two years or so, at my own cost.

Default What do you use it primarily for?

Also depends on what you'll use it primarily for...

i've heard Qwest throttles heavy users/p2p or bit torrenting users, but i've never confirmed that.

Also, i know qwest allows certain services/ports that cox doesn't allow (SMTP/Email for example). Something to think about if you want to host your own webserver/email server at home.

So, do you sign a contract with Century Link/Qwest? Because that's my favorite thing about Cox, I can change the plan monthly. And I frequently do depending on what my roommates need.
