You should get a window banner that says "Slow cars move right. Its the law" or license plates that say "rvo vom". Two of the subies around here have those.

I agree! The left lane is for going faster then the right lane. Also, if you insist on going 10mph below the sppeed limit, please wait till I pass before you merge into my lane without looking!

I find that if... say the speed limit is 70mph and you are going 74 that you always catch slow people and they will not get out of the way, but say in the same situation that you are going 79 they move before you get to them.

Oh well

wait for this people, you'll be surprised about what I"m going to say:
"the PASSING lane!"

So when you aren't passing anybody, stay in the RIGHT LANE, or middle lane. Keep the left lane open for passing.

Then everybody will be happy. If you're going slightly faster than the person in front of you, (i.e. you're going 75, and they're going 70), then pull to the left lane, pass them quickly and safely, and return to the right lane and return to your original driving speed of 75.

Smart, simple, and everybody will be safe.

Yes but many of us drive so much fatsre than everyone else that theres no real point to getting into the middle lane after passing. I'm just gunna pass somonbe else in literally 5-9 seconds...so in my estimation switching lanes that much would in fact not be thre safest course of action.

But personally I pass just as many people in the right lane. Don';t have time to wait for stoopid drivers to move over. I just pass them or tailgate them and honk/spit..blha blah blah..the ONLY stress in my life comes from road rage.

Coming back to CO this weekend there was a SUV in the right lane not letting the SUV in the left lane get over (and out of my way). When the fast lane guy would slow down, slow lane guy would slow down. Slow lane guy ended up slowing down because there was someone ahead of him going REALLY slow (a semi truck) and he acted like he was going to sideswipe me as I went by because I wouldn't let him over. SOOOOO, when I got next to the semi truck that was going about 10 under the speed limit, I just slowed down and trapped jerky SUV driver behind me until he was sufficiently pissed off.

Then I dropped it to 3rd and said goodbye forever.

It is funny that the gas pedal still works even when the cruise is on. All you have to do is push it a little bit for a short amount of time and then you are out of the way.

Maybe somebody should let everybody know. I am amazed how well this works.

No, really? I thought once it's on, that's it! What a revelation!

I actually got myself a speeding ticket w/ my cruise control on 65--the speed limit on I-79. I had a bit of road rage acceleration after being stuck behind a fat gas guzzler in the left lane and a sedated SUV driver in the right--driving perfectly parallel to each other for about 5 minutes. It was like some kind of stunt driving trick, but no one seemed to be jumping from one vehicle to the other! Out of sheer rage, I floored it up to 87 when the gas guzzler finally moved over. About 1/2 mile later, I saw the cop as he pulled out of the center median. The worst part was feeling the snotty, self-righteous stares of the jerks I'd passed as I sat on the shoulder getting my ticket...talk about being embarassed.

CHP, huh? I'm from SoCal but now live in Pittsburgh, PA. I sure miss CA, partly because the sun & beach but especially b/c they don't have traffic school here. Bastids!! :monkey:

If I get one more ticket I'll lose my license! I took this stupid exam to get rid of a couple of points on my license but, basically, I gotta drive the speed limit (well, 72 MPH in a 65 is what I've been getting away with) for THE NEXT FOUR YEARS!! So, yeah, for that.
