Default 2012 BMW 7-Series facelift spied during police stop with interior shot

Quote:
Interior details revealed after 2012 7-Series prototype was stopped for speeding by local police

A BMW test driver in a 2012 7-Series facelift prototype was stopped by police near the automaker's test center in Munich and that gave our spy photographers an opportunity to snap this set of spy shots, with a look at the interior too.

The car was stopped for speeding, which begs the question of how do automakers conduct public road testing without breaking any traffic laws? In any case, while the driver was busy explaining himself to the police, this photo of the 7-Series' new interior was snapped.

What we see are some additional controls on the center console and a wider display screen compared to the current model.
On the outside, the car is wearing a little camouflage on the front bumpers, masking new air intakes.\

The 2012 7-Series facelift is expected to come with a new 8-speed ZF gearbox replacing the old 6-speed automatic.
The model is set to debut early in 2012.

agreed.
They no longer look "good". All they do is fill the need for corporate folk to get to and from the office in the same car that other corporate folk drive.

Am I the only one who hates BMW interiors? They annoy the hell out of me with all of those tiny buttons.

Its as if the're styling the 3/5/7 series so similarly that they get mistaken for each other.

I haven't liked them since the whole iDrive/command center junk entered the picture.

Disagree. The E38 (95 to 01) was the business, the E65 (02 to 08 was the ugliest BMW ever (until the 5gt). The current F01 7 series looks fantastic and the interior is great!

Well, they went back to their roots, which is a good thing. The early to mid 2000s they try to make each one distinguished. What a bad idea.

That was one of the Bangle innovations, and it coincided with a huge sales succes for BMW. I think it worked because people that pay for thee sorts of cars care more about road presence and looking different from cheaper models than classical lines and coherence.

Those where the best. Drove like a big 3, and not a numb cruise boat like the newer ones. I think you can find them used for $12 dollars.
