Default My poor Soob! What should this repar cost me?

Driving on the freeway when the car in front of me ran over something metal which subsequently shot in the air and nailed my hood. This is the resulting product...anyone know what this is going to cost me?

p.s. I put some black touch-up paint on it because it completely chipped off the paint making it REALLY noticeable...thank you SOA for using the least amount of paint possible on my ride

p.p.s. *repair

don't think it's creased, I guess the third pic down does it the most justice. Any idea how much a "dent wizard" company would charge? I just want to know a ballpark figure like $100-$200 or more like $500?

Definitely do Paintless Dent Repair (PDR). Find someone that's thorough, and if the paint can be buffed out, they'll literally make it look like it never existed. Usually they let you send in pictures to an email address for a quote. Most are mobile and will come to your home/workplace. That dent should be $100 or less to get it taken out. Much cheaper than a re-spray.

You can only PDR dents, hince the name Paintless DENT Removal...no gouges in the paint. A PDR guy can't correct scratches/chips that grab your fingernail. Buffing the car removes clear coat swirls and scratches. It looks like the foreign object gouged the paint.

$649 for a brand new oem spec carbon fiber hood with clear coat, shipped. Your car is OBP, it would barely be noticeable.

Dont waste your time with "pdr" , you can tell the paint has been scratched quite badly. Also its highly difficult to get out small dent like that beacuse of the location of the dents, if you notice they are on or near the edge of the hood.
i worked in a body shop before and that would need to be hammered out, bondo'ed, sanded and repsrayed.
even if you manage to get the dent out you got a nasty gash in the paint.
i figure 200-400 to fix and repaint and color blend it.

PDR will not fix that, no way. That hood needs to be either replaced or repaired at a body shop. No sort of dent removal is gonna make that 100%.

A ladder fell out of the back of a truck and I nailed it in my civic. I didn't have time to get the license plate number but it wasn't my fault SO it was only 50 dollars for the deductible.

You said the paint was chipped? My bad, it's likely that you'll need a repaint. PDR can do well with scratches that aren't through the paint, but can't FIX paint that's not there.

That sucks. $500 seems like the cheapest you'll get away with (if that's your deductible). Good luck.

Well you could touch it up and put a huge band aid sticker over it.

why not get the cf hood if it's only a little more, or is your hood aluminum?

Ed Van Klaveren. 714 556 0660

This guy took 2 horrendous creases out of the side of my scoop. I don't think he is the cheapest but definitely did some pretty amazing work.

Or just buy a used hood.

If I had to pay $500 for the insurance deductible I would just do what one person suggested and get the CF hood...BUT I have been emailing some body shops and trying to get quotes; one guy is asking whether the hood is aluminum or not? Anyone know what metal the hood is formed out of?

That's not how it works. Either you only had a $50 comprehensive deductible, or your state has a $50 uninsured motorist deductible.

I have been in a hit and run and in a vandalism that were both obviously not my fault, and still had to pay my comprehensive end of my deductible for the vandalism and the uninsured motorist deductible for the hit and run. In MD, the uninsured motorist deductible is $250, which at the time was the same as my collision deductible, so I ended up saving nothing in that situation.
