Question NewBie here, lotsa Q's

I just bought a 2002 midnight black pearl WRX and i love it. I've done some shopping, and everytime i set my heart on a product, i get confused and disenchanted by some posts, so i have some questions.

1) What is the difference between a cat-back and a turbo-back exhaust? i'm looking at an HKS Carbon-Ti exhaust, are there any reason not shouldn't get it? Will i have trouble smogging it afterwards?

2) How the hell can EVERYONE get away w/smogging their souped-up cars?

Ok well smogging is a new term to me but alright

Turbo back exhaust is all the componets from the Turbo ....Back and Cat back is all the components from the last Cat back. HKS carbon is a cat back. I have a friend who has it ...I like the tone and look and suggest it if you have the cash. As far as smogging laws ....just keep your stock exhaust in case you fail ....no biggy

The souped up cars probably pay a "little extra" if you know what I mean or take all their shiznat out, pass inspection, and put it back in. There was a post a week ago and i think its like 4 or 5 years till we need to smog. AWD are exempt from a dyno but you will still get a sniffer test and a visual inspection. EVen with a lot of performance mods on you will still probably pass the sniff but visual is another story. I live in CA too but someday want to stick a TXS stage 4 on or something like that. I guess when the time comes, people will post and we can see what they are doing to pass. All of this stuff is what I recall from that last thread.
