Default OTS Maps Conservative or Aggressive?

I heard different opinions on cobb OTS maps, some say they are safe and conservative, some say they are aggressive. I am using cobb OTS stage 2 and getting 280/290 on wheel and happy with it, is this conservative or aggressive?

What can I get from a protune map?

Let me know your experience.

Thanks.

Depending on mods you can pick up anywhere from 10-50hp from a protune. The OTS maps are made safe and generic enough that almost anyone with that model car can run this map and still be safe. Does it leave room for more potential? Of course. If they maxed it out to one specific car that they tuned on, then it may really only be the best tune for that specific car. It may work on others and give them a gain or a loss depending on condition of the car and wear and such. The point is they maps Cobb puts out are as aggressive as they can be without having a great chance of damaging anything. They are completely safe to run for long periods. If you are looking for a protune, they can be had for around $500 from almost any tuner in your area. Agile Auto is in your area, as is PTuning and I think Mach V.

Its a shame they dont do anything for 07 and older... They really screwed themselves marketing wise.

OTS maps are on the conservative side in my opinion but rightfully so. I went from Cobb Stage1, to Stage2, to my own custom tune using Access Tuner Race. I definitely have more power than stage 2 by far, but I also have a wideband in the car and used a dyno to measure.

I picked up about 50 awtq and 30 awhp over the Cobb stage 2 OTS map. However, I am also running a FMIC so I can crank up the boost. It's not that Cobb cant make better maps, its just they take the side of reliability. IF you go to a Cobb dyno tune facility for a custom tune they will crank up the power a bit since they can monitor the car and how it responds. That is something they cannot do for mail order products.

If you stick with the stock TMIC you can probably safely pick up the power about 25tq/15hp over the Cobb OTS Stg2 map with a pro tune. I have seen higher gains than this, but the minute the stock TMIC gets heat soaked the car starts pulling timing. You can also get the car to get into boost faster than the Cobb OTS maps. Just keep in mind there is not too much headroom due to the stock TMIC. It sucks.

I just wonder why he decided not to touch the 02-07 crowd. One would think that the market would be bigger for those years considering that the 08 and up has a little more power from the factory (stock vs. stock that is). I know if I owned an 02 (after driving my 06 at stock levels) I'd be looking for whatever I could get out of my stock setup to try and make some more power.
