So I'm here at subiefest and the vendors are great but the meet was very poorly put together. Only 2 food vendors and they have run out of water. But the subiefest booth has some water. Not much though. Good turn out of cars.

Just not impressed with the organization.

Yeah, good show, but damn, it's hot and there's no shade at all! We had to leave to find something to drink. I could have prepared better and brought a cooler but it would have been nice to buy a cold bottle of water and chill in some shade. AutoX was cool to watch for a bit.

Hey everything! Just want to update real quick. Thanks to everyone that made it out, to all the vendors and all the staff and volunteers. Im sure we'll have an official post release soon.

Just a note, we understand the food, drink, and beer situation. We had setup everything with the Fairplex and it was contracted that there was supposed to be more food, alot more drinks available, and an actual beer station. Alot of this was not provided by Fairplex even though we set it up to be so. During the event, we were actively trying to reach the fairplex to solve these issues and unfortunately, it was too little too late on Fairplex's part. We are going to be speaking with Fairplex to discuss this matter. Our apologies as we weren't expecting this. It wasn't a lack of planning/organization, but rather something out of our control that we couldn't forsee.

We still hope that everyone still had a great time and are excited to see whats in store for next year!

Thanks again everyone!

I thought it was great.
Yes there were too few food vendors (only 2 there), and YES there were NOT nearly enough places to get a bottle of water.

My biggest complaint is that you raffled off all the prizes and then left the announcement of the car show winners till last.

I spent a lot of time prepping my car, detailing when I arrived at SubieFest, only to have 95% of the crow leave right after the last raffle drawing and then had to sit around for another 45 minutes until you tabulated the results of the car show.

You announced the winners of the autocross before the raffle was over.
What makes those guys more special than the car show guys?

It would have been nice to have the crowd there to cheer on the car show winners just like they did with the autocross guys.

NExt year, leave the best raffle prizes for dead last so everyone sticks around to enjoy the WHOLE show (car show guys are important too).

Other than that, I had a great time, and really enjoyed hanging out in the sun, doing a couple of auto cross laps in Preacher's bad a$$ Top Scoob Forester.

That dude can drive that thing, and it was AWESOME doing a couple of laps as a passenger with him.

Thanks Preacher!

Great show and the autocross was awesome! We has entirely way too much fun, definitely well worth the trip from southeast Arizona! The autocross instructor (I forget his name, he had the silver Acura hatchback) very knowledgeable and a blast to work under. I learned a lot, thanks guys!

Thank you , for this explanation !! I have attended every SubieFest to date,as well as all of the Rim of the world rallys that SOA sponsord.
I remember being greeted with a smile, a awesome terrycloth SUBARU towel and a swag bag with legit swagger.. (not a tiny pink sleenky and a tiny tootsie roll pop ? .. ) as well as fresh ice cold water and ect.. and this one was obviously "not up to par" as far as the venue responsibility.

I also attended the Off-road expo at the fairplex two weeks prior , which was only 12$ admission , and had use of the entire venue! Beer stations every 10 ft almost lol, plenty of food/water and the venue restrooms. So The only thought I was thinking at this point was "I CANT WAIT FOR SUBIEFEST!"

... It was a dramatic difference then what I , as well as SUBARU OF AMERICA was expecting ! six port-o-potties for an entire crowd .. with established plumbed restrooms that were fenced off !

Two of what can only be described as mid size minivan "Roach Coachs"
that would probably run out of food.. not that it looked appitizing to begin with.. and ran out of water ! ..

twelve picnic tables to host an entire crowd ! of im guessing at least 6-800 people !! with what little pitty shade they had to offer ! with way more picnic tables just sitting stored.

All in All.. it was fun, but I as well as you think that the Pomona Fairplex owes
you a tremendous apology to you, and us loyal subie patrons.

In my opinion a discount to you guys on next years event !

SUBIEFEST FTW

My gf and friend, as well as myself, all had a great time at subiefest despit the food/water situation. It wasn't your guys' fault by any means. I was even given a bottle of water (before you guys started selling it) by one of the guys at the subiefest booth and returned to the favor that afternoon by going to target and bringing him back a couple of cold bottles of water later in the afternoon to show my gratitude .

It was my first car show (aside from OC autoshow really) and I had a blast and can't wait for next year. I will hopefully have some more mods done to my car that I can share with others at the show and/or compete in auto x since it looked like a blast

15 dollars to get into an empty lot full of cars, no water, NO BEER!? no bathrooms, and crap food.... and what I can only say is a pitiful car show judge committee.
Disorganized raffle, that should have happen after the autocross, and the show car awards, as that is part of the show.
people that won trophies on the car show for 1 event should not be eligable to win a second category.
Best 04/05 and best in show shouldn't go to the same person, just as an example.

We paid $20 dollars to park out cars apart from everyone else, and received absolutely nothing in return. didn't even get to talk to any judges even though I sat near my car for many hours waiting.

I don't mean to rant, but now after 2 years of going to these, I feel I have room to complain.
I have seen a lot less money go a lot further.
Enjoy your profit, I question if i will ever want to go again.

Great time, no complaints here, 1st Subiefest ever.

Even after traveling from NC to CA, it was well worth it, even though I was there only really a day!

Hope next year is even bigger!

I agree. I honestly thought that the "creature comforts" would drastically be improved over the previous subiefests due to the fact that we would be at a fairgrounds in the middle of a city this time around and not in the middle of nowhere. I've taken this as a sign that subiefests solely belongs at the tracks and there should be a poll to decide which track the next subiefest should be held at; may I suggest Laguna Seca.

I like the poll idea for tracks.... having a combination of a few options like ax, circuit, rallyx, 1/4 mile would be ideal.

IIRC, Laguna Seca has strict db limits....but there are some tracks close to Vegas, which come in handy for the SEMA crew in Oct.

To all the people that continue complaining...keep in mind that this was much improved over past CA locations. They took alot of advice from far and near, and NO venue is going to be perfect. Being short on h20 is a big woops...but having to walk to the portopotties...gimme a break.

They made improvements in many areas...need not to discuss which ones. But making it family friendly was a huge step in the right direction. I had friends in from the PNW, and have been to every subiefest to date....they thought it was great.

Enough with the coulda/shouda.....save it for the poll when it comes out.

Subiefest already discussed & apologized about the food/beverage/and beer situation, even though it wasnt due to their planning/organization, but rather bc of pomona fairplex not coming through.

regardless, this wasnt my first subiefest, as it wasnt yours either. it was always common knowledge to bring a cooler full of drinks/water/beer. i did. and and ezup. i saw other people posted in fb, hey, they just went to the store, bought some drinks, no big deal.

bathroom... gawd... there were 3 separate areas for bathrooms. im sure if they were closer, you all would just sit and complain about how they were too close and all you could smell all day was the porta-johns. I saw people complaining about the NHRA built-in bathrooms, those arent apart of fairplex, so they werent even accessible unless the drag strip was rented out.

but "omgjustrentoutthedragstripforus, waaah" yea, you have an extra $25k lying around?

as for the raffle/awards schedule, yeah things could have been switch around/done better, i agree. I didnt like how everyone left after the raffle was over and then the car show people were only left. but thats just where things can be changed for next years.

as for someone winning more than 1 award... stop whining. if the shoe was on the other foot, you wouldnt be complaining. best year/best anything and best of show are completely different awards that everyone in the show should be open to winning, regardless if you won an award already.

well as Subiefest noted on their FB page, there will be an attendee poll. and Im sure the 5% of you that want a time attack can say you want it at a track. while the rest of the 95% that dont have time attack cars can say we dont. I bet i can guess where it wont be at.

Too many people have no idea how to run an event like this.

Part of SubieEvent's job is to come up with every idea anyone has ever suggested, long before they suggest them, and to consider it's cost vs benefit and feasibility.

I'd like to personally thank the ~2300 folks, both attendees and vendors alike, that came out to Subiefest 2011. That's 1000 more people than last year! A huge thanks goes out to Subaru of America, Inc. for partnering with the event and making it possible, Dave Mirra for bringing his charm, DSPORT Magazine for bringing the coverage, Hoonigan for making it rain via the water truck, and again all of our involved vendors and sponsors. The biggest thanks has to go out to the core Subiefest team that worked for months and around the clock to make the whole thing possible, as well as all of the volunteers that kept the event running smoothly throughout the day. See everyone in '12!

Sincerely,
Robert Champion
Event Director
