I thought I'd contribute to this hilarious thread!! Love all the banter of frustrated drivers here in HR!! We have ALL been there.... That being said...

A: I love the idea of filming my very short commute to base in which a "plethora" of "douchebaggery" occurs!! Thanks for the great idea!!

B: WORD TO THE WISE!!!
Long story short; I work with Air National Gaurd in base day to day. He splits time from Weekend Warrior to York County Cop... Effective as of 1 October 2011 (new fiscal year) there will be "road rage patrol" all over the HR area. This is because we have a crazy high statistic of road rage in our area. These will be no ordinary cop cars or "undercover malibu's".... They already have a wide variety of cars with cameras and when they witness "road rage" they will have the option of whipping out there lights or just plainly get your plate and you get a summons to court. All these tickets will be considered reckless driving if found guilty. Either way, there are I wanna say about 20+ ways to get reckless driving in VA to even include crossing over solid white parking spots in a lot!!

All in all this area does suck the big one for driving ANYWHERE!! Be careful and invest in a hidden radar detector!! (just kidding on that last sentence...don't wanna get in trouble for telling fellow peeps to go buy something illegal in this state!! )

Would you be able to find out if this is just a County wide project or region wide? I would like to know that this is going to be larger than just a specific area (York Co.) being as the issue with overly aggressive driving and roadrage is across the entire metropolitan area.

I would also like to see the state police involved in this and setting a standard by which the Police Departments of each independent city should follow.

I will talk with him about it. He's a down to earth guy. I recently took a driving course for my reckless driving ticket and my instructor was from VAB and said the same thing about the road rage crew. I'm pretty sure its going to be HR wide. I hear yea on the state police enforcing a standard too.

I firmly believe the majority of the HR's problems are because of the massive amount of out of state drivers vacationing, the idiotic military kids with their first car, and the elderly that are usually retired military.

I agree x3 but you forgot out of state drivers living here for 2-3 years who never stop driving like they're back in, NJ, NY, OH, CA, GA, SC, TX as examples of some of the local whackadoos driving here and adding to the bad driving.

please oh PLEASE let me know how you make out in court when you demand an immediate hearing before a judge instead of the assigned court date of the ticket...

§ 46.2-936. Arrest for misdemeanor; release on summons and promise to appear; right to demand hearing immediately or within twenty-four hours; issuance of warrant on request of officer for violations of §§ 46.2-301 and 46.2-302; refusal to promise to appear; violations.

Whenever any person is detained by or in the custody of an arresting officer, including an arrest on a warrant, for a violation of any provision of this title punishable as a misdemeanor, the arresting officer shall, except as otherwise provided in § 46.2-940, take the name and address of such person and the license number of his motor vehicle and issue a summons or otherwise notify him in writing to appear at a time and place to be specified in such summons or notice. Such time shall be at least five days after such arrest unless the person arrested demands an earlier hearing. Speaking of which, how many times are people going to hit that damn guard rail on the outside corner of the Terminal Blvd exit off 564? I swear that thing has been hit and replaced at least four times in the past 6 months.

A coworker of mine was coming back to work from lunch one day and witnessed this situation:
A car in front stopped at a red light. Cop was behind it (2nd car in the lineup).
The light turned green, but the front person didnt go immediately, but the cop was on the phone and started to go and he ran right into the back of the car in front of him

Was taht this afternoon around 3? Traffic was horrible on 264 so I got off at Newtown to take Independence to the CBBT. I saw a strange accident and a cop car.
