Default Opinions on no IC but water/meth only ?

Mods , please let me know if this would be better suited to the swap, or water/meth forum.

I haven't found quite what I want to know through the search and was hoping you all would chime in.

I have a stock EJ20K with a t3/t4 that will be going in my 1959 VW Karmann Ghia. I don't plan to run huge boost and wondered if I could get away with just water meth and no intercooler ????
Would I need to run E85 plus water/meth for it to be safe ????
What boost would be considered safe with matching injectors ?

The rear of the car doesn't get much air flow and it would help not to cut up the engine compartment of a old rare car.
Thanks for your help !

How much boost? Safe? Sure, if properly tuned and prepared. You wouldn't want to run a lot of boost. E85 would certainly make it much safer than pump gas...

I wouldn't do it. If you are worried about cutting up the tub, go with an AWIC and find somewhere to put a small radiator out in the air flow away from the engine bay.

I'd run a AWIC before I ran meth on that thing.

I did this, no real power gain so I went back to the stock intercooler and meth.

On my friends old RX7 he did it for fun one time and logged the IAT's and it turned out that he was able to get sub ambient temps but every application is different.

My old 93 legacy turbo had no intercooler from the factory.

And a puny turbo.

I have nothing to really offer here.

Maybe. A big turbo running low boost won't need as much charge cooling as a small turbo with high boost. Only way to know for sure is try it and monitor your IAT.

there are water/meth kits out there and can be configured
to spray low positive manifold pressure (boost).

look for kits that run off of MAP sensor readings
