Default Costco for tires

Looking to get winter tires for my car was pricing around for blizzak lm60 and it seems Costco is the cheapest with all the extras but concerned about quality of work. Anyone with prior experience? Should I enable the rev limiter on my Cobb when I bring it in?

Hmm idk, Costco and BJ's are the same thing right?

I wouldn't trust anything like tires from them on my car. I'm ordering a set of winter tires + wheel combo from TireRack.com later this month.

You get what you pay for. Just remember that.

I was planning on that but I was holding out on a complete tire racks wheel package for summer tires. Tire racks had a deal at the beginning of the month on tires and after install it would of been $20 or so cheaper than Costco but w/ Costco you get 5 year road hazard free flat repair and nitrogen.

just stand outside the door and watch them...the quality of the tire will be same they didnt make it..the quality of their work is going to be about the same as any tire place..its their first job in thwe auto field.. just tell them please try not to scratch the rims and make sure u watch them and there is no reason they should be driving it more than from the parking spot into the shop and back..i worked at sts there is only 1 way a tire goes on and off so i would have no problem going there myself

If you feel you get good perks then go for it. Costco doesn't manufacture the tires so quality isn't a big issue in question.

BJ's does an excellent job with tires IMO. Recently, I went there to inquire about the cost of getting my tires balanced, the guy said they can't do it for people that didn't buy their tires at bjs but since I had a scoob he'd do it. And on top of that he did it for free! Stand up guy, wouldn't take a tip. Just don't go to walmart. One of my coworkers mother went to walmart and her wheel flew off when she was driving home... middle of a lawsuit now.

its highly dependent on the tire tech you get and the store itself...not really whether its a warehouse type store vs. a small tire shop. I've had good work done at walmart of all places (relax tirewhores, it was for a set of winter wheels), and some of the worst experiences Ive had have been at so-called "boutique" tire/wheel places...

I have never personally taken my car to costco but my family always does. The work is what you expect, they take the old tire off and put the new one on.

As long as the rims are nothing special I think you will be fine.

We will actually be running a tire sale in Nov since we will finally be getting mounting and balancing equipment. Not sure if our pricing can be as competitive as Costco or BJs but we will do our best to serve the community.

Costco is fine. Only issue is they only do stock tire size. So if you have aftermarket wheels, they won't do it. Unless its the same size.

costco can order any tire you want with the brands they carry...maybe he meant he didnt have any in stock.

i have costco tires on stock wrx wheels. i got bridgestone potenzas for 500$ after the 70$ discount they always have and the mount and balance is included in the price. the one thing i like about it is they have road hazard warenty and that came in handy when i hit a pothole and got a bubble and crack in my tire. they replaced it for free.

Actually, the real reason to use Costco is the for the rotation/balancing. It cost you nothing for the life of the tires. I used costco for my two Acuras TL and MDX. I put on the best tires for those cars/SUV (Michelin), get the $70 off and get them balanced/rotated for free every 8-10K miles or so.

Unfortunately, I have aftermarket 17 in wheels for both my summer and winter setup - so no Costco for my Subie. But my mechanic is pretty close in price, but no free rotations and balancing. But with the two setups - I do the rotating and only balance when I feel an issue - which is twice in 10 years.

Costco has been great for years for my parents. Never used them myself.

I just priced it out at BJ's and their prices are comparable, but remember they usually have the mount/balance in the price and you have to ask them to not include that if you want to mount yourself. Tires are tires they just have access to them.

I'd like the hazard warranty though considering roads are crappy here in phila.
