It will release unmetered air to the atmosphere, so it'll run a little rich on shifts, not the end of the world, there's no way to tune for it, short of running a standalone with speed density. Why do you want it? For the sound?

Run it if you like it... It wont hurt anything at all. Been running open bov for years with same motor. Should perform well since the hks design will absolutely stay closed under boost.

Thx for the answer I'm also thinking put Hks intake back since the original owner had it installed

I kind of want a blow off valve but got scared of all the talk around here about "don't do it" etc etc. But as I hear my friends' turbo cars and then my lame turbo chug sound... makes me want to change it up a little. I heard 50/50 recirc valves kind of are the best of both worlds. They don't make noise under daily driving but only under higher rpm/boost, not sure if that's accurate though?

No its not worth it unless you have a blow through pipe or running some kind of standalone, which I doubt you have. Your car will run like crap.

Dear sir. Take your misinformation back to the General forum. You obviously have no clue about the subject.

Been running a blitz bov since i got my jdm ej20g wrx. The previous owner had it fabbed up to an sti intercooler. I dont have so much of a choice in the matter without spending some money. Personally I would have prefered a 50/50 recirc. But i honestly dont think it matters. Jdm ecu's are pretty slick about adjusting to the briefly freak a/f. Unless your a jackass your not going to blow anything up. And if you do blow something up it wont be because of a bov. I tell people who ask about it that atmos venting bov's are as much an engine performance upgrade as a high output stereo amp.

Does not make you go faster. They can be adjusted for epic rice venting if thats your thing but its completely pointless.

that's not _entirely_ true. the higher end BOV's hold more boost and don't leak under low pressure so there is _some_ performance enhancements above & beyond the stock, leaky BPV.

but yeah, with a topmount you're not venting all that much metered air. I've been running vented for years with no issues.

if you had a front mount however I'd maybe think twice about going full vented simply because of the volume of metered air you'd be dumping, probably doesn't matter either but I don't have any experience with a FMIC + venting (will soon though )

not sure if this helps but i have a ej20g in my 2000 rs and i have a front mount, mbc, downpipe and catback, power fc, afpr, deaustchwerks fuel pump and the hks and i have no issues as all including leaking and im running 15 psi which should be the lowest possible and im not happy with this but i don't have a tune at all just put the ecu in the car and ive never had any issues at all(also have the coilpack conversion)

Putting a HKS on mine was great for drivability. Stopped the lurching and surging when shifting. Stock ECU had no issues ('93 U8 ECU).

LOL... Where did you read that? As said earlier... And backed by others like myself who actually have ej20g with BOV's in our cars... You CAN pretty much run whatever blow off valve you want and the car will still run fine.
