I just installed my red footwell kit. I was surprised at how easy it was. Besides removing the glovebox and popping out the cubby hole light, I didn't have to remove any trim or anything. I just pushed the entire wire harness from the driver side through the cubby hole light opening, connected it, then pulled the passenger side hardness into the glovebox area. 20 minute install, tops. Plenty of wire length, too.

Removing the glovebox was the hardest part, so I replaced the cabin filter while I had it out.

Wow really wish I saw this... just did the same install on my WRX, except I didn't remove teh console and took an hour to run the wires behind the console.

In the end, I am disappointed with the amount of light it produces, totally looks weak when compared to your picture. I should try take one and compare.

So I just checked your build thread out and DAMN! your ride is wicked dude! much props! I'[m gonna look into the stance setup now cause you say they ride decently well on the softest setting and you can swap the stock units in quick if something goes wrong. Once again, well done sir!

Default footwell w/bluetooth?

Sorry to hijack the thread (freaking sweet pictures btw ),
but does anyone know ANYTHING about the blueconnect bluetooth for the 2010 WRX? Mine was installed when I purchased it, and for the life of me I can not find any information on it anywhere. I've searched online and can only find install instructions for the Forester and other nonsense. It blocks the cubby and therefore installation of my footwell illumination kit.
I've even called Subaru and gone in and they are no help. They just want to overcharge me to get it installed.

Help??

Thanks for the post and writeup- I just ordered the blue kit to go in my 2010 WRX to match the blue center light. I'll install in a couple weeks when I put in my kartboy shorty and do a double whammy!

Oh, mine work off my dimmer for the dashlights. I just adjust the dimmer by the power mirror/headlight dip switch.

Same wiring as OEM product? I might try this then.

Yeah, no special wiring. I just plugged it into the OEM console plug that is controlled by the OEM dimmer. I wonder if there are differences between mine and your kit.

ah ha it does the trick indeed, way brighter the reason I didn't notice its because my lights are usually very dimmed because I got lasik eye surgery 2 years ago and my eyes are still pretty weak/sensible at night - so I dimm everything to its lowest

thanks Overland!

Quick question: I have the OEM footwell lights for my '11 WRX, but I got the blue lights (sigh) because either I didn't speak clearly enough or the guy handling the order for my car is deaf. Either way, I've been too lazy to deal with it until now. Does anyone know where I could get the red lights to swap them, how much they are, and how long that would take? Thanks!

So I found this thread and ordered these things. I just went to go to the store, and I don't have any lights in my footwell currently... Is this normal? I was expecting they would be replacing white lights or something? Or am I just an idiot?

the only light you have is the red light in the cubby in front of the shifter

And so this kit taps into the existing harness for that light, then?
