How about several tracks that are within a fair distance for everyone are selected than a pole is made and people can vote as to what track it will be. Keep in mind traveling a long distance for the event to be in the middle of no where would suck especially when im sure everyone would want a good place to go out and do some celebration. So lets name some tracks that are within a resonable distance from a major city or something that would be fun.

The fact of the matter is, you need to hold the event closer to where the majority of the people are coming from.

^^but all of the events are already over there

knowone knows about any of the fast cars out here because of the lack of events out here also, I know there is some competition out here, at least a few 9 second capable subies

it would suck that everyone would need a decent touch up on their tune once whoever gets wherever

and if Ali gets some type of money for transportation. he can give it to the guys coming from farthest away. which will most likely be a lot less people than trying to get the guys from east to the west coast

Maryland International Raceway would work great for this. It's pretty much right in the middle of the east coast, it's fast and has a great group if people running it, no curfew or noise restrictions, and it has some stuff to do in decent driving distance. Then Ali can help the smaller amount of cars from the west coast get to the east coast to race.

What about Charlotte, North Carolinia ZMax RaceWay!
4 lanes of fullblown subies going balls out!
That would be one hell of a showdown!
But at the end of the day, anyway will be fine as long as the people that say there in don't flake at the last minute!
Maybe do an entry fee of $500-$???? and when you show up you get some of it back, and the rest goes to prize money to weed out the tire kickers!

If if we go to the east coast I would like to race at Zmax because of the 4 lanes which would drastically reduce breaking down time.

MIR may be too strict for most guys going really fast or just over 135 w/o licenses, certified cages, and etc.

ZMAX is a premier state of the art NHRA track,I can almost guarentee they will be super strict about the rules.

Unless something has drastically changed they will definitely not be too strict at MIR. If its like most of their street car events they wont enforce safety rules at all for cars in the 9's.

Considering I'd take a week off just for driving, a weekend is minor detail. Plus it's more fun to party on the weekend and not race hungover

Hey guys... I appreciate the comments and sorry I've been out of touch for a bit since we're getting ready to do large Subaru cruise caravan to the Grand Opening of Galpin Subaru here in LA on Saturday..

However, that said, I only got a few emails from people that were really interested in attending a shootout.

I need to get more replies so I can go to our sponsors and see if I can raise the funds for transport and lodging. The more names (and cars) I can get emailed to me, the greater the chance of making this happen, so whoever is interested in coming, regardless of where they are.. please email me asap.

[email protected]

I did one of these drag shoot outs back in 2005 and it was a blast!

When are you looking to hear back?

We are going into winter and for some that is when the projects that didn't get finished in the summer go into high gear so they are ready for spring.

^^^true story and part of why I haven't replied. My car might be dual purpose next year. That meaning track duties and straight line events.

As it is now, if I show up with my current suspension, brakes and tires; I won't be leaving the line anytime soon
