Default engine and headgasket question

after search

cn: 2001 forester s has a SOHC EJ251, correct?
recommended HG prt#11044AA642 for MY04-MY06 STi EJ255, correct?

extended version:
just bought MY01 forester and found out it has the dreaded leaking HG.
saw oil dripping on headers, power washed bottom of engine and found several seepage leaks, all coming from heads. i want to make sure of the above, I.E. my engine call sign and if ok to use the upgraded STi HG.
and with that i will be starting to save for a HG job.
thanks
steven

Your Forester uses P/N: 11044AA633 which is an updated part to eliminate future head gasket seepage issues.

Hi, I'm new here,
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm wondering if after a certain year if the 2.5 motor has the head gasket thing worked out, and would be expected to last and run for more miles. I've heard of 300,000 mile 2.2's

Thanks,
Chris.

I can just about guarantee you those 300k EJ22's had at least 1 or 2 HG changes themselves.

As for the OP, use the updated HG for the EJ251/3.
