You can trash a set of the wrong tires really fast even if it's just for enjoyment.

Where you using any form of supplemental lighting (any light that was there when you parked your car)?

There was one flash being used and the rest was some lights on buildings and long exposure.

This is a silly discussion. All of these girls Subies are awesome in their own ways. I'm not complaining... I feel very jealous b/c my car is not as pretty as the other girls cars. That hasn't been my concentration for my WRX though. My goal has always been to have a car that can go fast if I want it to & if it will make it up the mt's that I have to drive up to go snowboarding. Not to mention... for this car to be running at all is a miracle. Sure. I've raced my WRX a couple of times, drag and track... but nothing to brag about.

I have 22 votes, all of which are my friends from my Local Subaru community. I have a nicely sized turbo. A slightly built tranny and engine. Professionally tuned on 17/20 PSI.... just lacking in the exterior and wheel department. I'd say I'm doing pretty frickin well going up against these ladies.

Now I know to enter my pretty car instead of my car w/ all of the mods and good stories.
Pft. Your car is great! Don't be jealous Be

I would vote for everyone in there if I could but I voted for me because I can. My car isn't fast, or low, or stanced, or a track car. It's a daily driving work in progress traffic marauder that takes a 40 mile beating every day and looks good doing it. It's probably the least modified in here (for now ).

I'm rockin mad underdog status and if I'm kind of looking at my car and I as the Janis (Mean Girls reference) of this group. It's here. I'm hardly competition for anyone but hey, whether I get 2 votes or 30, I'm happy. I see no need to be jealous of anyone.

There are tires that are highly recommended for certain types of driving for a reason. I started on the track on Yokohama S Drives and they sucked and were toasted after myself and my instructor drove them for a day. After Tirerack's high recommendation for RS3s I am very happy.

Yeah, most of my votes are people that generally just frequent the motorsports forum and never "venture" to other parts of NASIOC (except maybe their own chapter/region).

And that being said, I'm not shocked that it's so polarizing of an issue. Motorsports people generally aren't concerned so much with the looks of the car as much as the function. It's been that way for as long as I've ever been around motorsports people, from drag racers when I was in high school through roadracers and autocrossers now. Heck, the running joke in high school was that the more primer a car had on it, the faster it was; if it was a "pretty car," it wasn't fast. The idea being that the owner generally dedicated the money to either the motor or the looks, and those who went half and half were both not as fast as those who didn't care so much about the looks, nor did their car look as nice as those who went all out with the polishing and the chrome, etc.

Or, from the other side of my life, this may as well be a contest of figure skating versus ice hockey. Yeah, someone might be able to do both, but they are going to be better (and prefer) one over the other. And yeah, I'm a hockey player. Go figure.

I drive my car often, and I drive my car hard. It's rarely clean, I was picking leaves out of the engine bay yesterday when I had it at the autocross, it needs a vacuuming something fierce, and the interior is banged up from slinging tires in the back to haul to events. So what if it's not a shiny show icon?

It wasn't meant to be pretty. It was meant to crush the souls of Camaro and Mustang drivers who dared me to build it for E Street Prepared, instead of building my beautiful green Camaro Z28 1LE. I don't back down from dares. And I've crushed a few souls along the way.

From yesterday's autocross.... and, yeah, not quite 35mph.

And if you want to see me get it slideways (but still catch it), here was my first run on cold tires :

And yes, the Camaro is my favorite... and my screen namesake (11 years in the Camaro, running F Stock... CamaroFS34). 414000 miles, and I still love. Oh, and it's also an ESP car too.

Not true. I drive my track car on the street. Rally cars are "street legal" enough to drive on the roads. Helmets = Safety, Safety = Sexy

Just throwing this out there, not trying to pick on ya.

...why does autoX have to have a relation to a car club?

And the statement/question in my last post was directed to Pat by what he had said, that I also disagree with. (There's a difference between racecar and rallycar... but you already know that, which is why I said race car, not rally car)

^to clear up what I meant, was that I used "race car" as a generalized term, not one to be dissected into a subcategory of a rally car (that Stripes mentioned)..such as Rally cars don't use slicks, but other race cars do.

They are the ones typically organizing the events. Most (if not all) reputable car clubs require helmets at events, driving around cones..i mean autox included. Rules do vary though....My local motorsports complex does not require helmets at their drag strip unless its a sub 12sec car.

And how is a rally car not a race car? It competes in races...correct? Technically....any car thats entered into competition is a "race car"...even if its just bracket racing.

So much yapping.. Let's keep it somewhat on topic? Who cares if it's functional/unfunctional. Sure everyone has their own opinion, but no need to turn it into a pissing contest

I don't know where you get this from, but rally cars race; therefore, they are race cars. obviously, they have to be street legal, although I see more of them trailered to events (for good reason) than I do in wheel-to-wheel club racing, where there are also street-driven race cars. at one of the local hillclimbs, one of the competitors even has a great sticker on his fully-built, street-legal race car: "Trailers are for horses, cars are for driving."

I totally dig it. But after having my power steering pump seize at an event, fry the belt and then have to scramble to find a U-Haul with a flat bed and a truck just to get home... trailers do come in handy

Totally agree.. It takes alot more motivation and pure subi love to rebuild an old car and be able to appreciate it like it's a new one.. And the fact i have yet to see miss2.5's bf flame the other competitors on things that don't matter and are purely opinionated comments.. we all know this is a popularity contest but i guess haters gotta hate.. even when it's supposed to be about supporting cancer research..

So.. miss2.5 has got my vote..

Haha, been away from Nasioc for a bit and it's refreshing to see the Hella Flush vs. Hella Functional debate still rages on to this very day. Lol, I didn't know this was a "enter only if your car is a track whore and you spend your money on functional mods ONLY and not what makes YOU happy since it's your car" contest. Just kidding guys, I think we can all agree that all of these cars are pretty nicely built and yup, bottom line, it's a popularity contest. Now post some bikini pics so we can really get this voting popping off
