Yeah. It's great. Shifting is much easier and more fun.
Also just got my end links and am now waiting for the sway bar to get in. I'm sure I won't be disappointed if my experience with the shifter bushing is anything to go by.
CTKAG... bear in mind that the only hangers you really need are at the muffler itself. I had all four, and I had to get two exhaust pipe hangers rewelded. Four hangers put way to must rigid stress on the piping IMHO.
I only replaced the two at the muffler & the one before the muffler. I may have been able to get away without the third one, but my pipe was hitting the diff protector. Still may need a little grinding there. My MRT exhaust does have a flex joint, so that should absorb some vibration.
Installed these today.
Bit more affirmative shift feel. Easier to find gear. Easy to install (jacking the car up is the longest part). A worthwhile part if you already have a short shifter.
These are great. I've got the STi short shifter, and just installed the Kartboy bushings. They got rid of the slop. Shifts feel more precise. Great cheap mod.
Finally installed the bushings this past weekend after a failed attempt. A little silicone grease proved the trick to getting the stock bushing slick enough to come out.
Shifts are as described above: More direct, connected feeling. (I'm using the stock shifter, no plans for a short shifter at this time). No increased NVH. Well worth my $25. (Let's hear it for second-hand parts!)
I have the shifter, bushings, Knuckleball (silver) and exhaust hangers.
Next on my list are the rear droplinks and front inserts. My front swaybar's stock, but I'm replacing my rear Whiteline with a solid 20mm STi bar. Whiteline's given me headaches, don't ask.
But the bushing install was quite a pain for me. The stock bushing just didn't want to get off. I even tried cutting it out with a knife. I ended up removing the whole shifter linkage and the bushing popped right off. But it was all worth it.
put my shifter bushing in today, was so happy to get it in i almost put it in last nite after driving from LA to Oak Harbor (like 1250 miles, mang)
thank GOD i waited. yeah its only a 30 min job, but as i fix jets for a living and am some what used to working with my hands... this job kicked my tail around a bit.
still a bit cut up from it, funny how you never remember to wear those nifty gloves until after the job is done.
at any rate, i had to cut away at the stock bushing and then it came out with about 15 min of prying. Kartboy bushing went on like a song. and baby it feels good to shift now. once you see just how soft the stock bushing is ( like a bouncy ball only softer) vs. how solid the kartboy one is (like hard plastic). you kinda get a idea in your head how this is going to change the feel around a bit.
worth the money, worth the work. glad i bought it.
Just installed mine tonight. Subaru should put them in from the factory. The shift feel is much more precise, and positive in every way. The best $35 mod you can buy.
