I mean it terms of off-road or snow conditions. Q5 still uses a center differential, while most other AWD hybrids use an underpowered rear electric motor.

The Toyota Highlander is no Subaru regardless until Toyota rethinks their limits of their current AWD/4WD lineup (not to be confused with the 4WD on the Sequioa, Land Cruiser (obviously), 4Runner, and FJ).

I only hope Subaru realizes if the rear wheels on their hybrid aren't on par with at least the active AWD system in the CVT-equipped vehicles, they're going to have a problem since Toyota already has that covered in mass numbers. The reason for Subaru's justified pricing is their AWD is effective and efficient at a moderately price point below Audi. Subaru top executive (or president, I can't remember which article specified so) said that way back when Subaru was just starting in the USDM, they raised their prices to match or just a bit below Audi because of their "superb Subaru AWD systems" or the like.

So is there any news on when a production-ready Subaru with hybrid will be coming to the market? A hybrid Crosstrek sounds VERY appealing as I am interviewing at companies 40 miles from home and would live to save on MPGs for my potential commute while staying with Subaru.
