Default Hello! Here's my project...

Hey Everyone.

So, since I lurk your For Sale threads (yay mod addiction!) and I drive through BC on my way to Victoria (where Im originally from) multiple times a year, I thought I would start a thread and say Hello. That way, if you spot my car with its Alberta plate, you'll know who the crazy guy waving at you is.

My car started off as a 2002 2.5RS and has gone through a few changes.

Right after I bought it, I had no plans to modify it...

That changed as I added a set of Gold Rota G-Force (17x8 +45) that I bought used through the local Subaru forum (Western Subaru Club represent!).

I quickly caught the 'mod bug' and things escalated from there.Within the span of a couple years, it went from the picture above... to this:

However, that didn't seem to be enough and, in 2009 when my headgasket went... I decided to dive into a swap.

Among other things, I swapped in a V7 Ej207 motor and transmission... added the rear diff, axles, hubs, brembos, JDM headlights, etc and after 9 months of working in a freezing cold garage, I drove this out:

The modifications didn't stop there. I powdercoated the rims (white is annoying to keep clean) and tried out an STI spoiler for a while (didnt like it)

Raced it...

And, here is where it sits today...

Tonight, I am picking up my Velocity Carbon V1 FRP trunk (Mines rear spoiler molded in) from my painter as well as some front and rear spats. I haven't decided if Ill install the front spats, but we'll see how they look.

Anyway. Enough about me... I am hoping that one of my trips through BC (heading to the Shuswap this weekend) will coincide with one of your meets so I can put some faces to names.

Cheers.
- Z

Bugeyes have such a great look with the jdm headlights, and I bet the swap makes it a fun vehicle to drive.
Very nice!

Yeah, I wanted the JDM headlights even before I did the swap.. buying all the parts for the swap, I thought "Why not add headlights to this as well...."

Yeah, those are your old rims. I lasted for a summer with them being white but my Hawk HPS pads dust like crazy and they were never clean. The bronze hides the dust a lot better. Its a matte finish so not that easy to clean/wax but its easier than the white. I just got around to replacing the RCII stickers on them. Next, I want centre caps.

I love my JDM motor. Revs to 8k and is really smooth. A swap for your WRX should be a lot easier. No need to tear out the entire dash and wiring harness like I did.

Thanks!

I definitely enjoy driving it a lot. On the stock VF30 turbo and with a Perrin DP and Maddad Whisperback exhaust, its making 240whp and 240tq on Airboy's Dyno Dynamics dyno on Shell 91.

Water/Meth and possibly the HT68 are on the list for next summer. Should bring it up to about 330whp.

I used to have a thing for the classic Imprezas, but after being on here, I think bugeyes are (very close to being) my favourite. (Don't tell my car, it'll get jealous...) If I was going to get another Subaru, I'd probably get a TS or WRX wagon, but that probably won't happen for a long time...

I like the short wing though... I'm assuming that's the old one (did you pick up the other trunk yet?). The whole car looks great... almost as nice as rs420's...

Thanks. Its definitely been a lot of work to get it to this point. More money and time than I care to think about. There's been ups and downs... almost sold it a couple of times when I got frustrated with it.

Lol. There's a couple cars here in Alberta that have looked similar to mine at one point or another, but that just makes me want to change something. Not because I dont like their cars, but because I love having something different going on.

Ill make sure to post next time Im going to be spending some time in Vancouver. I went to UBC for 6 years and grew up in Victoria, so I come back often.

Yeah, I think its hit or miss with bugeyes. In my opinion, they are really easy to ruin with the wrong parts... but if you see a bugeye that you like, you really like it.

Thanks! My gf's parents have a place in the Shuswap so we spend a lot of long weekends there. Gives me an excuse to go for a 1000km drive.

Im not really a fan of the TS cause they're missing the fender flares of the WRX. Occasionally I wish I had done my swap to a wagon, but only when Im trying to fit a ton of stuff into my trunk. With the 12" sub, two amps, and now the 12L STI water tank, I have rapidly made my car very inconvenient to take on road trips.

Yeah, the wing in those pics is the stock WRX/RS wing and yes, I just picked up an installed the new trunk. Ill take some pics tomorrow. Its raining and late.

Right on. We generally have weekly meets on Wednesdays but when people from out of town come in, if there's enough notice, we get together on a weekend.

Figured that before I put the winter tires on, I should go out and take a few pics. A lot of the locations I wanted to try out had construction (yay Calgary!) so I was forced to improvise. I think they turned out ok though.

Thanks. I really like the new additions I've made (trunk, front and rear spats).

It looks like Calgary is gonna get some snow in the next week so I think i'll be swapping to the Rota rims in a couple days and that'll be it for the Advans for the next 7-8 months.

No. 18x8.5 +45 5x100

Im not 100% on the offset but I think thats what they are.

Ill probably be looking to get rid of them this winter... I haven't been 100% sold on the look. Looking into some Enkei NT03+M or XXR 527's or Advan RZ's in probably the same-ish size.
