Well. Its been a slow winter for mods... we recently had some solid -49*C (with windchill) weather and, ill be honest, it was terrible. The car handled it like a champ though. Didn't even need to plug in the block heater.

I've been picking up parts that will either get installed soon (if im bored and restless) or, more likely, in the spring when its not terrible to work in my unheated garage.

I picked up an Aquamist HFS-6 and some Maddad UEL headers which I had coated and then wrapped.

installed some B-Quiet sound deadening in my Velocity Carbon V1 FRP Trunk

The drone on the highway was getting to me.

Its cheaper than dynamat and works really well.

I also decided that it was time to switch up the suspension. The car is currently sitting on Tokico D-Specs and Tanabe GF210 springs but a set of ST Coilovers (by KW but not stainless) came up locally for a really good deal so I pounced on them.

I also picked up a set of RCE Lowering Camber plates to go with them.

And finally... i had to swap to some black-painted brembos cause I was actually borrowing the gold set from a friend. They were looking pretty plain so I my local decal guy whip up something nice for them.

I keep meaning to go out and shoot some more photos, but with the winter rims and the car constantly being filthy... it just doesn't seem worth it.

Oh, and my Advan RCII's are for sale. If you're interested, shoot me a pm.

Well. Im being dumb and putting my summer wheels/tires back on in March. This winter has been non-existant here. We're guaranteed some more snow, but Ill just take the other Subaru if that happens.

Cause I know it'll get asked, wheels are Sonic Tuning ST8's in 18x8.5 +35 with 245/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza Re760 Sports.

Yes. It rubs. A lot.

Going to need to roll the front fenders and maybe add a little negative camber.

Saskatoon just got hit with a blizzard a couple of days ago. Hoping it doesn't snow in AB since I'm here for work as usual.

PS. Woot WSC ftw

Thanks!

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure on the rims when they first showed up but I really like them. Definitely need a roll in the front.

I've got a couple more things coming up:
- 05+ Centre Console Conversion
- Maddad UEL Headers
- New turbo... probably Dom 1.5XTR
- Aquamist HFS-6

Right on. I actually grew up in Victoria, went to university in Vancouver and just moved to Calgary 5 years ago for work.

I come back to Vic to see family fairly often but I dont drive out that often.

Especially with the new suspension, im not sure that I want to drive 10 hours. We'll see.. Im getting married in Duncan in August so maybe Ill drive

Anyway, thanks for the comments on the ride. I appreciate them. Hopefully we meet in person sometime.

Lol. Ill check out the meet threads next time im in town. I can always borrow my dad's car and come out.

I've done the drive plenty of times... and for me, its probably alright. For the girlfriend, not so much. We'll see. Maybe I can convince her to take my car out there around August.

Gotta love the looks I get from the BC ferries guys when I try to angle down off the ramp onto the ferry so I dont break my front end.

I know of autoXers that brings their own "extension ramp" (2"x8") and just have the passenger hop out to setup the ramp

Yeah, our bugeyes are very similar... except for the paint. That colour looks amazing on yours. Im thinking that I might get mine repainted and go with a Mercedes Obsidian Black or something similar. No pearl in the paint. Just a really deep deep black. We'll see though.

Send me a PM either on here or on the Western Subaru Club and we can meet up when you're here in Calgary.

Lots of changes coming up.

First of all, a little while ago I did the centre console conversion to an 05+ centre console. Much better.

I've still got to plasti-dip the stereo/hvac trim and install the switches for my heated seats. The previous owner put in aftermarket heated seats and the switches were pretty ghetto. Im hoping to wire them up to the OEM switches.

Yes, my car is very dirty right now. Ill be bringing it to get the interior detailed asap. I did a claybar, polish, glaze/sealant, and wax last weekend and the paint is much improved over what it was, but the front end needs a repaint. We'll see what the summer brings.

Next: Upgrading the Turbo. I have purchased a Dom 1.5XTR with 8cm hot side and 2.4" inlet. It will be here on Tuesday.

I am starting to gather the things I need for my turbo swap.

First of all, i'll be installing my DW 750cc injectors. Ill be using new O rings that are coming with my turbo.

Also, Im going to leave this link here because its a nice how-to showing the location of bolts for swapping the injectors:
http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine...02-03-wrx.html

I've thought about doing fuel rails but Im not sure that I'll be at the power levels to require it. I think I'll give what I've got a shot and if Airboy, my tuner, thinks that fueling is starting to be a problem, I'll remedy that when it comes to it.

I've got my new headers coated and wrapped. I will be winding some mechanics wire around them to keep the wrap nice and tight. The studs on the uppipe got coated by mistake when I sent them to top-gun so I'll run my tap and die set over them to make sure they're good to go and to ease the install process.

I've got my grimmspeed gaskets all ready to go:
- 2x Exhaust port to Header
- Collecter to Uppipe
- Uppipe to Turbo
- Turbo to DP

I believe that the Dom 1.5XTR comes with gaskets as well but Ill take a look and see which ones I'll use.

I've ordered new nuts and bolts from subaru for the turbo to dp and turbo to up connections. Its always nice to have spares if you strip a bolt or something. The downpipe was off less than 10,000 km ago and the whole turbo was off 25,000km near the end of the swap. Im not expecting a lot of difficulty removing it but Ill soak the bolts in PB Blaster (or similar) 24 hours before.

I think i'll be getting a new turbo blanket. The one that's on the VF30 was a cheap ebay one and has started to fall apart. I think im going to try to get away with not coating the hot-side and just using a blanket and heat shield and possibly buy some of that gold reflective tape at Mopac to put on the edge of the TMIC and anywhere else I can to keep heat away from the intake air.

The Perrin Turbo Inlet is already on there (2.4" version) and I bought a Samco Afta MAF hose so I can get rid of the OEM plastic accordian-like piece. I will be keeping the stock airbox.

The JDM V7 STI TMIC is 15% bigger than the other JDM and USDM TMIC's so I think that I'll be alright in terms of that.

I'll probably be swapping out the little spring/ball in my Hallman Manual Boost Controller (MBC) to the big spring/ball. The little one is good to about 20psi (5-6psi over stock) and if Sunny wants to turn the boost up higher than that, I'll need the bigger spring/ball. The MBC is hooked up in parallel with my Prodrive EBCS and is just there to prevent overboosting. With this system, you can run slightly more aggressive WGDC because the MBC can react faster than the EBCS.

Another future purchase is the tigwerks motor mounts. It looks like his project to make the trans mount has stalled so I'll look somewhere else. Apparently the JDM STI motor/trans mounts are akin to the Group N mounts. Im trying to dig up a picture of the trans mount from during the swap to verify this.

Oh, and I believe one final thing to remember. I need to track down a couple plugs for the second O2 bug in the Uppipe/Header. There are two and I only have one sensor going in there. I also will track down a bolt that I can use to plug the bung in the header that is for an EGT sensor. I am planning on reusing my defi EGT gauge but I want to make sure that if for some reason I cant get the bung out of the hole in my stock header, the small hole in my Maddad header doesn't hold up the install.

I think that's about it. Anyone see any details that I'm missing? Something will always come up during an install like this, but Im trying to plan so that I can limit the number of emergency trips around the city looking for parts.

Edit: I forgot. I'll need extra coolant for whatever I need to drain to get the turbo coolant reservoir and the turbo off. Im also probably going with one step colder spark plugs.
