Default Turbo Interchangeability Question?

Does one know of any IHI or VF series turbos that you can swap an ej20g turbo (TD05h or TD04 90* inlet) compressor housing on?

Thanks,
Chris

None. However with a 90 degree silicon bend and a bit of metal tubing, you can make those turbos fit the EJ20G turbo inlet hose.

What do you mean? I have a ej20g motor, td04, and a ej20g short ram kit (his specific)?

Thanks,
Chris

You can't swap a TD04 or TD05 cold side onto any IHI vf turbo.

Why would you anyway? The stock TD05 16G that comes on the EJ20G is bigger than any VF series.

Not that big on 4k boost! Would prefer to find something with a little less lag

I would never call my td-05 laggy. I guess it does boost right before 4k but with my ra Trans 4k comes before I know it and pulls way past 7.5k.

On my EJ20G with the TD05 16G, I tightened up the wastegate actuator 4 turns and backed off the MBC a bit, this made a good difference in spool up.

Maybe now that these are getting to be 15 years old the springs in the actuators are getting old and need to be adjusted tighter?

Thanks for all responses guys! I guess I am just gonna stay with my td05h, I do love the rocket ship thrust once you hit 4k though!!!!! I will definitely try turning the actuator out

Only tighten up the actuator if you have a mbc or ebc. You will need a way to lower the boost in the higher rpms/gears.

At wich RPM you had full boost before tightening it and after? I get 15 psi at 3800 running a home made mbc with a catless 3in downpipe, should it be better?

Mine has bigger injectors, a chipped ecu and a lot more boost so it's probably not comperable. But before it was over 4000 and now it's less than 4000. I'll try to look at the tach more closely, but seat of the pants it's a lot better.

I have an EVC boost controller.
