I met two very cool people today...and along with these cool people comes two stories about their cool cars.
First, a friend I met at taco bell was there again in his yellow 360 modena today, and asked me if i would be interested in dropping a in-dash dvd player into his f1-style new modena that's on the way. NO JOKE, THIS GUY IS MELLO, AND LOADED LIKE NO OTHER. Anyway, he proceeds to tell me that he's seen my work in other cars, and wants me to do his new ferrari. I told him "sure" with the biggest on my face. He later explained that "cost wouldn't be an issue" and that he'll advertise. I was stoked, and needless to say dropped him my name and number. Good news story number one.Second is the best for i-club, and I hope you all agree. Today after work, another friend stops by my work, and as we are sitting outside talking, a diablo pulls up. I couldn't believe it. (Today was exotic car day, i swear). Anyway, I walk over and talk to the driver, basically telling him how gr8 his 180 grand car is (like he doesn' know), AND GUESS WHAT HE TOLD ME??? The guy gets out, and explains that "yeah, it's a great car, and cool to drive, but there are alot of cars faster..." I was blown away. He proceeded to tell me that just earlier in the week, he had "lost to a small import on ortega's long stretch of straight road." I couldn't believe it. He said his car runs 12's, stock. I couldn't resist not knowing, so i asked what he lost to. He explained that it was "that new body Subaru..." I WAS SO FREAKIN' HAPPY...AND GRINNING FROM EAR TO EAR. He said the guy wanted to run his diablo, and the diablo was left in the dust (and apparently he even got a good launch on the wrx.) Anyway, I don't wanna type too much more, I just wanted to let all my fellow brethren of the i-club know that someone of us has raced, and beaten a diablo. CONGRATS TO THE MYSTERY RACER!!!-XS NOIZ- TRULY A PROUD DAY FOR SUBARU ![]()

w0w!...that's one hell of a day you had, man!
And whoever the WRX driver is...you're nutty to take on a Diablo ( )...but you rule! Congrats on getting the install job for the Ferrari...and I wanna see! -Milan P.S. Racing on public roads = bad (unless you smoke a supercar j/k) |

i think that sometimes the drivers of these exotic cars like toying with us (in wrxs) but they don't push their cars 100%. and we do. and by the time they realize how fast we are, sometimes it's too late for them to catch up. think about it. if a diablo runs 12s, a wrx runs 14s, and a civic runs 17 second 1/4 miles, what do you think the closer race would be? the wrx and the diablo. but if the driver of the diablo isn't expecting the wrx to be a 14 second car (less if modified), he's only going to push so hard. think about it...you could race a stock civic today and lose because you aren't even trying, and he just floors it and eventually picks up enough speed to get away from you, and by that time you aren't able to catch up. ok, that's a lie. a wrx would never lose to a stock civic, but it's technically possible if the wrx driver was not ready or paying attention.
i do not like street racing because it's stupid and dangerous, but i've messed around with fast cars on occasion just to see what would happen. and the thrill of racing a $150,000+ car is just amazing. you get no thrill from racing a civic or an eclipse. so far i've raced 2 vipers, a 360 modena, and a new turbo carerra. i never actually beat any of these people, but i kept up pretty good considering. these cars can go so fast, there is no way a stock wrx could beat any of them if they were prepared to race. but when you catch them off guard, it can be really fun. please do not street race. go to a track and race these cars when the timer is on and it's accurate. that's the best way to see how fast (or slow) you really are. it's crazy when these guys in their "modded" civics show up and get 18 second times for the 1/4 mile. kind of puts them in their place. |

Who said the WRX was stock? I've got one of those "new Subaru" cars and I've taken out 2 Ferrari's and countless Porsche 911s.
Anyone running stage 4 or better has the ability to do this especially like you said if the other driver isn't expecting it! Carlo |

good point, carlo. the turboxs stage 4 is a whole other story. you can beat almost any car on the road with a stage 4. obviously there is that fraction of 1% that is still faster, but there is always someone faster than you, no matter how fast you are.

alright, i dont own a wrx but i love the car. I would take it over a porsche turbo, i work for audi/porsche and i have driven a turbo and that thing is ridculous. But i would way perfer a WRX. But anyways back to the point, this wrx smoked a 360 and a 360 is like 2 tenths second slower then a turbo and i've driven a turbo and the beast is fast.
but i personally think a wrx can beat any of teh exotic cars out there. and teh reason is. You should see teh yuppies that buy these cars, they dont drive them the way they should be driven. I mean there expensive cars but if youre paying that much for them means youre loaded and should be workin teh crap out of those exotic cars. so yeah wrx people use there power and exotic owners dont, there yuppies, i see teh people that buy the turbo;s and i say why why why youre not even gonna do what the cars need to be done. alright my crappy side of teh story. wrx's rule! |
