Default Extrude honed intake

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with what gains could be expected with extrude honing the intake? I have seen estimates for port and polish of the entire intake path. (head and intake) but nothing on just the intake by itself. I dont have any flow data but it seems to me like the intake runners are small in comparison to the intake ports on the head.

I had my intake manifold honed from Extrude. The benefit was about 5HP. This was on a stock Ford 2.5L Duratec engine making 170 crank HP(99 Mercury Cougar). I would say it definately could not hurt. I do not plan on doing it. First I want to buy new intercooler hoses and new pre turbo intake hose. The cost is relativley high for how much you get out of it. I always analyze the HP/$ ratio before I do anything. Unless Extrudes prices have gone down I would look for better mods.

we are currently working on a very high hp engine and had the intake flow tested. we are using the sti-ra center manifolds that don't have the tgv's, so our numbers may be slightly higher. there is absolutely no advantage to having the intake extrude honed. the stock wrx intake system and heads are extremely adaquate. they flow more stock than any other manufactured head out there. besides, you would have to do some major porting on the heads and then port match everything so see any gains with extrude hone, and then your cams would be too small. the only advantage we saw is that the casting flash inside the manifold would be gone. but this is not a concern. don't waste your money.
