Default Subaru Down :(

Someone took a left in front of me without yielding... It'll get fixed, but in the mean time, I am bummed. My custom headlights are trashed.

I'm wondering what the repairs will cost. from what I can see, I'll need; headlights, bumper beam, bumper cover, grille, Hood, driver's side fender, radiator support, fog lights, fender liner and a windshield

It looks fixable. More pictures of your 'custom' headlights? And have you thought about going with sedan fenders?

Blacked out headlights with smoked reflectors ( not the most difficult project to redo, but I loved the look)

BTW, the plate is "shopped" off in this pic.

Perfect excuse to get STi splitters? They look good with wagon fenders.

Well, someone doesn't have insurance... So now I have to pay my deductible to get my car fixed.

I'll probably never see that money again.

So, I'm thinking I want to go with a Hawkeye sedan front end. How much trouble do you think I will have finding a shop that will do the swap for me? the cost for peanut and hawkeye parts are about the same... What do you think?

Wemt through a pretty bad accident recently with mine. At the end of the day youre okay man. But we all know how upsetting this stuff it.

Cant hurt the body shop about swap stuff. The worst they can do is say no and you get your car back how it was before the accident right?

Glad to hear you're ok! I'll do some shopping around, I'm hoping a shop will be cool enough to do that for me.

I'm trying to decide if the damage warrants me checking to see if the frame was bent. Should I be worried about that?

^yes it does. don't overlook anything. any reputable body shop will go through everything anyways.

they should do the swap for you. if anything costs more it may be out of pocket, as well as additional labor costs, as they will most likely follow oem assembly instructions, but a competent shop wont have problems. in either case, it shouldnt be much more. some shops that arent as familiar with subarus will get slightly uneasy about things like that, because they aren't sure if 'thats even possible" but just explain to them its been done and the parts will work. there not many subarus around where I am now, and i went to a shop to see if they could repair a little crack thats on my sti wing, and they were blown away that the wing was an oem piece.

keep us updated with how everything plays out.

I decided not to go with Hawkeye parts to keep cost down. I'm just going to have the body shop check the frame and go from there. I'm wondering how much it will cost to straighten?

i would be surprised if your frame is seriously bent. although some body shops are 100/hr+ sometimes. on the other hand i've seen some accidents that looked like nothing and the frames were twisted. just have them assess the damage and get an honest opinion.

I totaled my 05 2.5RS, i had a very reputable shop check it out, and there was very little frame damage, but the rest of the damage totaled the car. (car i hit was braking hard at a green light, so their tail was up, I braked to stop and essentially went under them, so it was mostly hood, headlights, fenders, rad, rad support.

Yeah, my car isn't totalled. It has $3200 worth of damage according to insurance. Does that seem like a fair estimate?

yea i'd say somewhere between 2800 and 3800 based on the damage to my car. obviously try to get the most out of insurance you can, and then get body work.labor down as much, that way you can pocket whatever or use for upgrades. since the other driver didnt have insurance its going on yours, so i would say dont try to get as much from them as possible, but from my experience, a claim is a claim whether its 1000 or 5000. my insurance report back doesnt have the value, the history just says "at fault total." yours will be not at fault collision....

going to try to do anything about the other driver? try to get them to pay something out of pocket. threats of reporting driving with no insurance etc always moves things along.
